Capcom's plans for the next three years of Resident Evil have seemingly leaked online. Resident Evil is one of the most popular video game franchises in the world, and for good reason. Capcom has been releasing new games in the series regularly since it debuted in 1996, ranging from completely original main series titles to spin-offs to remakes of fan-favorites. Most years have at least some kind of Resident Evil release, with very few exceptions.
Since 2019, a new Resident Evil game has been released every year except 2024. The Resident Evil 2 remake dropped in 2019, followed closely by the Resident Evil 3 remake and Resident Evil: Resistance in 2020. Resident Evil Village, aka Resident Evil 8, launched in 2021, and the now-defunct Resident Evil Re: Verse released in 2022. 2023 was the year that the long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake finally hit store shelves, and 2025 ended with the launch of the well-received mobile strategy game Resident Evil: Survival Unit.
Resident Evil: 8 Biggest Traditions In The Series
The Resident Evil franchise stands out thanks to some of its iconic traditions, some of which will also make a comeback in Requiem.
Fans already know that they can look forward to Resident Evil Requiem releasing on February 27, with the game set to blend the intense first-person horror of the newer games with the exciting over-the-shoulder action that has been the franchise's bread-and-butter since RE4 hit the scene in 2005. Capcom has yet to announce what's coming after Resident Evil Requiem, but it seems as though the next few years have already been mapped out. According to insider AestheticGamer, Resident Evil Requiem is getting a DLC expansion later this year, and Resident Evil 10 is currently planned for release in 2029.

Next Resident Evil Games (According to the Leaks and Rumors)
- Resident Evil Requiem - February 27
- Resident Evil Requiem DLC - TBA 2026
- Resident Evil - Code: Veronica Remake - 2027
- Resident Evil Zero Remake - 2028
- Resident Evil 10 - 2029
Previous leaks help fill in the gaps between 2026 and 2029. According to the latest info, a Resident Evil — Code: Veronica remake is next in line, with the project set to launch in early 2027. After that, a Resident Evil Zero remake is expected to release in 2028. If the leaks are accurate, it seems that Capcom will be getting Resident Evil back to its annual release cadence. However, fans should keep in mind that plans could change and any one of these rumored projects could end up delayed. In fact, AestheticGamer has suggested that it's possible Resident Evil 10 will be pushed back to 2030 or 2031.
What About Other Rumored Resident Evil Remakes?
There were rumors that Resident Evil 1 would be getting another remake to bring it in line with the over-the-shoulder style of the other remake games, but that was never backed up by any reliable sources. Others have said that a Resident Evil 5 remake may be in the works, but that rumor also seems fishy. These projects may happen eventually, but if the timeline of new Resident Evil game releases that's been laid out rings true, it seems fans shouldn't expect to see either one of those games until the 2030s.
In the meantime, it's not just video games Resident Evil fans have to look forward to. A new Resident Evil movie is hitting theaters later this year, directed by Zach Creggar of Barbarian and Weapons fame. Creggar's previous work has significantly raised expectations for the new Resident Evil movie, and it will be exciting to see how it turns out.
