  • It's believed that Resident Evil 9 will launch in 2026.
  • Remakes are Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica are expected to follow in 2027 and 2028, respectively.

According to the latest leaked information, the Resident Evil franchise could be about to begin a three-year hot streak of releasing major new games. From the stretch of 2019 to 2023, Capcom released some kind of new Resident Evil project every single year. The streak started with the critically-acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019 and ended with the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake in 2023.

Unfortunately for fans of the survival-horror franchise, Resident Evil has been on a hiatus these past couple of years. While there is still time for a new Resident Evil game to drop in 2025, the most likely scenario is that fans will have to wait until 2026 to play the next game in the long-running series.

A two-year drought of Resident Evil games is a bummer, but the good news is that the Resident Evil franchise may soon be kicking off a three-year streak of releasing brand-new games. Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer has said that it's "very likely" that Resident Evil 9 will release in 2026, the Resident Evil Zero remake will release in 2027, and then finally, the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake will launch in 2028. While fans should take this claim with a grain of salt, Capcom has stuck the Resident Evil franchise with an annual release schedule in the past and AestheticGamer has proven to be a reliable source of information when it comes to the franchise.

Next 3 Resident Evil Games, According to the Leaks

  • Resident Evil 9 - 2026
  • Resident Evil Zero Remake - 2027
  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake - 2028

AestheticGamer followed up their tweet about the upcoming new Resident Evil games with a caveat about Resident Evil Zero. According to AestheticGamer, the Resident Evil Zero remake had "some form of dev change" about six months ago, and it's possible that it will ultimately swap places with Code: Veronica in the release schedule. Regardless, the takeaway is that it's more likely than not that Capcom will have new Resident Evil games to release every year for at least a three-year streak.

With Resident Evil 9 supposedly coming in 2026, fans can expect a reveal of the game sooner rather than later. In fact, AestheticGamer previously said that they are "95% positive" that Resident Evil 9 will be revealed this week. It's possible that the reveal will happen as early as the PlayStation State of Play on June 4, but maybe it will happen at Summer Game Fest on June 6 or the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8 instead. Time will tell, but regardless, Resident Evil fans should have plenty to look forward to these next few years.
