British studio SFB Games announced its next title in the form of Crow Country, a retro horror experience exuding classic Resident Evil vibes. Crow Country hence adds to the list of creepy new games unveiled in the run-up to the 2023 Halloween.

SFB is a two-man studio made up of brothers Adam and Tom Vian. Formerly known as The Super Flash Bros., the London-based company has put out nine games over the last decade, including critically acclaimed titles like Snipperclips and Tangle Tower.

And while a few of its past games flirted with horror tropes, Crow Country will be SFB's first full-fledged horror experience. Adam Vian originally teased the upcoming game in spring 2022, describing its visual style as a mixture of Final Fantasy 7 and the original Resident Evil. Crow Country has now been treated to an official announcement trailer, which reveals that SFB's next title is "coming soon" to the PS4 and PS5, as well as PC. In the meantime, the studio already put out a playable demo that can be downloaded via Steam and the PlayStation Store.

The game itself is set in the rural outskirts of a 1990 Atlanta, Georgia. It puts the player in the shoes of Mara Forest, a mysterious woman who sets out to find one Edward Crow, the disappeared owner of the titular Crow Country theme park that's been out of commission for a while by the time the story kicks off. Apart from Crow's whereabouts, the game's central mystery will also touch upon the reason why the entrepreneur shut down his theme park in the first place. The announcement trailer even alludes to there being more than meets the eye to Mara's identity.

SFB primarily envisioned Crow Country as a classic survival-horror game. Nevertheless, the developer will also cater to players looking for a spooky interactive story free of needless stress with the inclusion of the combat-free Exploration mode. And though Crow Country has so far only been confirmed for PC and PlayStation consoles, that's not to say it won't eventually reach more platforms. SFB's previous title, Tangle Tower, made its way to the last two generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as the Switch, PC, and Mac. It's also currently available on iOS devices as an Apple Arcade exclusive.

Horror fans interested in Crow Country should have plenty of things to keep them busy while they wait for SFB's upcoming title; October 2023 is unsurprisingly packed with new horror releases in the form of games, movies, and TV shows.

Crow Country is coming soon to PC, PS4, and PS5.
