Now, Sony has revealed a controller that celebrates the legacy of the PlayStation console. The Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense wireless controller is a brand-new PlayStation 5 peripheral releasing on October 20 in the US and Canada, and October 28 in Mexico and Chile. Sporting several shades of blue evocative of the console’s brand, this special controller also features subtle button symbols in the center, and a PlayStation engraving in Japanese Katakana on the back. Leo Cardoso from the PlayStation Color, Material, and Finish team explained the philosophy and significance behind this new controller’s design.

“From the moment the console powers on and the DualSense controller lights up, that signature blue glow signals the start of something special. It’s the spark that draws you into new worlds and immersive gameplay. Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller. As a nod to our origins, we added Katakana characters on the back that spell our name the Japanese way: Pureisutēshon.“

The Icon Blue Special Edition has all the features of other DualSense controllers, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone. Players will be able to pick up this new controller for $84.99 USD, $109.99 CAD, $1,899 MXN, or $93,490 CLP depending on their region.

The blog post announcing this new controller also revealed some other charming PlayStation products that will be hitting the market soon. An Astro Bot Lunch Box with shifting expressions, Meltz figures inspired by Twisted Metal, a PlayStation baseball jersey, a mini backpack modeled after Ellie’s from The Last of Us, and monogram backpack clips featuring a dozen different iconic characters from PlayStation games, including Atsu from Ghost of Yotei, Jak, and Sly Cooper, are all coming to the Walmart online stores in the US soon, though exact dates and prices have not yet been revealed for these items.
