It may not be quite as complicated as Elsewhere Forest, but there's an awful lot to figure out in New Pokemon Snap's Lental Seafloor Undersea course. There are two alternate routes to discover as well as well as 27 different types of Pokemon to find and photograph. The majority of them only show up in Undersea too, although considering there's a lot of exploration needed to progress the story, players shouldn't have to go too far out of their way to find them all.

Players will unlock the course after reaching research level two in Reef (Day) and will need to play through it at least four times to move on to the next area of the game. They'll need to photograph the glowing Frillish to unlock the pink Illumina Orbs, reach research level 2 and manipulate a Clawitzer into unlocking an alternate route for them. For all the effort that's required though, it's arguably one of the best courses in New Pokemon Snap and is hiding its fair share of mysteries too.

Research Level 1

  • Finneon - There are Finneon scattered throughout the entire course, the first of which can be found swimming around in the opening section. The NEO-ONE gets fairly close to them on numerous occasions, so this is a great place to get good pictures of the Pokemon.
  • Magikarp - Given that Magikarp appears in just about every course in the game, it should come as little surprise that it also shows up in the game's main underwater area. There's one in the starting area, although if players reach research level 3, they'll finally be able to get a four-star picture of the Pokemon in one of the underwater caverns.
  • Luvdisc - Luvdisc are everywhere in the Undersea course, including in the underwater cavern on the default route. It's here that players will be able to get a four star photo by lighting up the Crystabloom to attract the four nearby Luvdisc, although they'll need to make sure that their camera is focused on the fish and not the Crystabloom when snapping the photo.
  • Corsola - Corsola also appear in numerous areas throughout the course, although the best photo spot is to the right of the alternate route entrance after players have reached research level 3.
  • Lumineon - Lumineon show up in numerous places, although the first time that players will see them is in the area with the reeds and plant life a little way into the course.
  • Octillery - There's an Octillery over to the left of the entrance to the big underground cavern on the default route, but it quickly gets blown away by a Wailmer. Another one shows up later in the deep tunnel on the alternate route.
  • Wailmer - Wailmer can also be found at the entrance to the big underground cavern, as well as in several other areas throughout the course (more so at higher research levels).
  • Sharpedo - There's a Sharpedo swimming around just below where the first Wailmer is found, but more will start to show up as players start to explore the course a little more.
  • Qwilfish - There are a few Qwilfish swimming around inside the underground cavern on the default route. More can be found later on once players have unlocked the alternate route.
  • Tentacruel - There are a lot of Tentacruel swimming around in the underground cavern as well as near the default exit of the course. There are also one or two in the cavern connected to the alternate route. If players hit the male Tentacruel on the right of the deep downward chamber on the main alternate route at research level 2, it will also show up in the final area to dance with Frillish.
  • Mantine - A school of Mantine will swim overhead at the end of the course. At higher research levels, they will also show up at the start as well as in the underground tunnel connected to the alternate route.

Research Level 2

  • Frillish - Players will need to snap a photograph of Frillish before the rest of the research level 2 Pokemon start to appear. More importantly, perhaps, they'll also need the picture to unlock the pink Illumina Orbs. Initially, the only place to find a Frillish is in a small cave coming off the side of the deep cavern that the NEO-ONE travels down and players will need to coax it out into the open with a Fluffruit. After that, they'll start to show up all over the place, especially in the underground tunnel connected to the alternate route.
  • Pelipper - Once players have photographed Frillish, Pelipper will show up in the opening section of the course, but only at research level 2.
  • Cradily - Cradily replace a lot of the Lumineon that were previously swimming around in the reeds and there's also one near the course's alternate exit.
  • Pyukumuku - Pykumuku replaces the Octillery that was battling with Wailmer earlier on, but the latter returns once players hit research level 3.
  • Clawitzer - There are a few Clawitzer swimming around in the underground cavern near where the Qwilfish are. If players get a photograph of one, the next time they enter the course there'll be another Clawitzer swimming around near the beginning of the course and hitting it with an Illumina orb will finally grant players access to the alternate route.
  • Chinchou - Almost immediately after taking the alternate route, players will see quite a few Chinchou in the walls of the glowing green area. Players can get three and four star photos of Chinchou if they hit the one to the bottom left of the green room with an Illumina Orb and then photograph it in the sunlit cave to their left a short wile later. There are also some sleeping in Lugia's den.
  • Clamperl - There are a few Clamperl buried in the sand at the very bottom of the deep tunnel on the alternate route. If players throw Fluffruit near them the nearby Lumineon will dig them up and they will swim around.
  • Golisopod - Not long after reaching the bottom of the deep tunnel, players will find themselves in the ancient ruins section where there are plenty of Golisopod. They're pretty boring at first, but get quite lively once players reach research level 3.
  • Lanturn - There's a Lanturn or two off in the distance of the ancient ruins section, although once players reach research level 3 they'll also find one in the deep tunnel.

Research Level 3

  • Alomomola - Alomomola will start showing up at the very start of the course as well as in the deep tunnel on the alternate route.
  • Squirtle - A solitary Squirtle can be found standing in the reeds where the Cradily and Lumineon were earlier.
  • Lapras - A Lapras can be seen swimming on the water's surface right as players are exiting the course through the default exit.
  • Inkay - Inkay first show up in the green cavern with all of the Chinchou. There are also some in the deep tunnel that's just ahead of it.
  • Starmie - Starmie can be found fighting with a Tentacruel near the entrance to the deep tunnel. More can be dug up by Lumineon at the bottom of the deep tunnel, although it's also possible to make them surface by hitting their gems with Illumina Orbs. If players release at least one Starmie, hitting the Crystabloom in the ruins section will cause the Pokemon to show up there too and illuminating the Crystabloom again after it does so will cause Starmie to perform its four star pose.
  • Wailord - Wailord is one of many Pokemon that will swim upward past the NEO-ONE as it makes its way down the deep tunnel at research level 3.

End Game

  • Lugia - To find the Legendary Pokemon Lugia, players will need to hit the Lanturn in the deep tunnel with an Illumina Orb. After doing so, they'll need to wait until a Wailord swims past them and then hit the Lanturn with another Illumina Orb. If done correctly, it the fish will lead them down to the bottom of the deep tunnel and show them the entrance to Lugia's cave. It will be sleeping inside, although hitting the two nearby Crystablooms (one is behind it on a ledge and the other is in front of it and slightly to the right) will wake it up and allow for some decent photo opportunities. Players should pelt it with Fluffruit in the ruins area if they want to hear it roar.
