Rager, a "rhythm-driven combat" game has just been announced for PlayStation VR2. According to its PlayStation Blog announcement, Rager will launch on PlayStation VR2 on March 5, 2026.

Released in February 2023 with a price tag of $549.99, PlayStation VR2 was met with a somewhat mixed reception upon launch. While the hardware itself was heavily praised by critics due to distinguishing features like headset haptic feedback and eye-tracking, an HDR OLED display, and the Sense controllers' adaptive triggers, the platform's launch line-up was criticized for lacking any major first-party blockbuster titles aside from Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Though acclaimed third-party experiences like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Beat Saber, and The Midnight Walk have come to PS VR2 in the three years since its debut, the platform is still sorely missing must-play first-party experiences.

Rager Comes to PlayStation VR2 on March 5, 2026

Rager may not be a first-party blockbuster title, but it could still be a great reason for PlayStation VR2 owners to dust off their headset just one more time. In the official PS Blog post announcing the game's imminent launch on PS VR2, Rager is described as a "music-driven VR brawler where the rhythm is never background noise." Much like Beat Saber, every block, strike, and movement is tied directly to Rager's soundtrack, though instead of colorful neon blocks heading towards the player it's an army of shadowy robot ninjas that must be hacked and slashed at with careful precision.

At launch, Rager will include a full campaign that features 12 "hand-built" levels and three boss fights. Each level will see the player wield a unique weapon that they'll need to adapt to on the fly. These weapons function quite differently from one another, such as the sword and mace, which are dual-wielded, and the axe and hammer, which require both hands to wield efficiently. Rager will also feature a Freestyle mode at launch which gives players free rein to choose their own weapons.

While Rager will be a new release for PS VR2 players, the game has been available for a few months on Meta Quest 3 and 3S, with it launching back in October 2025. Rager currently holds a 4.6/5-star rating on the Meta Quest Store after 139 ratings and 106 reviews. In their October 2025 hands-on preview with Rager, UploadVR's K. Guillory wrote, "Rager makes me feel like I'm engaging with an immersive fitness routine that's straight out of a movie," praising the game's core mechanics but pointing out a slight lack of content in its early access iteration.

Rager will ship on PS VR2 with the same content present in the Meta Quest version of the game, but the upcoming release will take advantage of some of the Sony headset's more unique features. Rager's PlayStation VR2 version will run natively at 90Hz, will use the display's HDR functionality, and will use "dynamic foveated rendering" powered by the headset's eye-tracking technology to keep the player's focal point clear. The PlayStation VR2's haptic feedback will also be fully utilized in Rager, with strikes and blocks resulting in feedback in the Sense controllers, and enemy attacks triggering the headset's feedback function.

Though a PlayStation Store page for Rager is now live, the game hasn't yet received an official pricing. Currently, Rager costs $14.99 on the Meta Quest Store, but given that the game is technically still in early access, that price could increase when Rager launches on PS VR2 on March 5.
