COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have been lightening up around the world this year, and geek events happening in physical spaces are slowly making a comeback. Anime Expo 2022 was held in July 2022, and now, major gaming events like Tokyo Game Show are pushing through in Japan. Recently, Capcom announced that its Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert is also making its return this year through both physical and digital channels, adding new soundtracks to its 2022 program from the company's latest title, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
The first Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert was held in Japan in 2009. Since then, so many monsters were added to the Monster Hunter roster over the years, each with unique background music during hunts, likely changing the concert program very often. 2022 saw the release of Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and with it, new monsters such as Malzeno, Lunagaron, and Garangolm. With the community likely still having these monsters fresh on their minds, it seems only apt that the Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert will also include music from Sunbreak.
On Twitter, the official English account of the series shared that Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert is back this year. The post also had a cute key visual of Monster Hunter's iconic Palicoes wearing orchestra-related outfits to keep in theme with the event. According to the official website, the physical concert will happen on August 27, 2022, 5:00PM JST, or 1:30AM PDT. The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the program, to be led by maestro Hirofumi Kurita. Kurita has conducted the concerts for Monster Hunter since 2014.
Fortunately, global fans do not have to worry about the difference in timezones if they want to catch the orchestra event. For those who were able to purchase livestream tickets, a recording of the concert will be made available for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak fans for a limited time after the actual event. This allows the community to view the concert at a time that is comfortable to them. However, livestream tickets will only be available until September 4, 2022, 9:00PM Japan time, or 5:00AM PDT, so fans should purchase them when they can.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak still has title updates to release for the community, and each of these updates come with new monsters to hunt. If the reception of the Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert goes well online, it is possible that Capcom will continue offering livestream access to fans regularly. Hopefully players show support towards the event so that they can enjoy more of them in the future.
