The upcoming Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions game will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on September 3, but the Nintendo Switch version isn't coming until later. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is the next major Harry Potter game release from Warner Bros. And Portkey Games, and the second that's landing on consoles.

Portkey Games is a special publishing label that Warner Bros. Formed to handle the Harry Potter franchise in the video game space. The first game released under the Portkey Games label was 2018's Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, a massively successful mobile game, followed by fellow mobile games Wizards Unite, Puzzles & Spells, and Magic Awakened. In 2023, Portkey Games and Warner Bros. Published their first console game effort in the form of open world action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy, which was also a runaway success, becoming the best-selling game of 2023. Next up is Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, which is set to drop in about a month's time.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be available for most modern gaming platforms on September 3, but Nintendo Switch gamers will unfortunately have to wait a little longer to play the new Harry Potter game. A release date for Quidditch Champions on Nintendo Switch has not been announced at the time of this writing, but it's still expected to release at some point later this year.

When is Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Coming Out?

For those unfamiliar with the game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a fantasy sports game with a single-player career mode and competitive multiplayer options. It features a cast of recognizable characters from the Harry Potter franchise, including Harry Potter himself, and lets players create their own custom witch or wizard as well if they so desire. What's been shown of Quidditch Champions so far looks promising, so it would be understandable for Switch gamers to be disappointed that they have to wait longer to get their hands on the game. However, Harry Potter fans on Switch are likely used to having to wait longer for their ports.

As some may recall, Hogwarts Legacy's Switch port came a whopping nine months after the game was released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. When Hogwarts Legacy did finally arrive on Switch, it did so with downgraded graphics and performance compared to the other versions of the game, though that was to be expected. It's likely that Quidditch Champions on Switch will have to make similar sacrifices, but we have yet to actually see the Switch port in action.
