A new Avengers game is rumored to be in development, one that reportedly isn’t connected to the Crystal Dynamics Marvel’s Avengers game. Crystal Dynamics brought Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to consoles with a team-based, live-service title in 2020, but the results ultimately failed to win over the superhero gaming fanbase. Marvel’s Avengers was criticized right out of the gate for its monetary practices and repetitive combat, and struggled to build a player base as a result. Despite efforts to continue supporting the game through post-launch content, Crystal Dynamics ultimately discontinued Marvel’s Avengers in September 2023.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns featured a few cast members from the ill-fated Avengers game as playable characters, as does the recently launched Marvel Rivals. Captain America is set to return to action alongside the Azzuri version of Black Panther in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and both Iron Man and the modern-day T’Challa Black Panther are getting single-player titles from EA.
