Netflix's One Piece Live Action series was announced a while back and fans are waiting eagerly in anticipation for the first season of the show to drop. Netflix's One Piece Live Action series drops on August 31, 2023, and a teaser trailer that was revealed to the fans has everyone excited for what's to come.
Of course, most fans watch One Piece with Japanese voices and English subtitles. For them, the English voices were a bit hard to get accustomed to. Ever since the announcement of the teaser trailer, fans were wondering who the Japanese voice of the Straw Hat Pirates would be. Finally, the Japanese voices of the Straw Hat Pirates have now been confirmed and fans are delighted to know that they share the same voice as their anime counterparts.
5 Mayumi Tanaka - Voice Of Luffy
The legendary Mayumi Tanaka returns to voice Luffy in Netflix's One Piece Live Action series. Mayumi Tanaka has been voicing Luffy since 1999 and is a legend in her own right. She is an incredible voice actress and is, as Inaki described it, "the Luffyest of Luffys."
It would have been quite weird for fans to hear a different Japanese voice for Luffy, and thankfully, in a genius move from Netflix and the staff working on One Piece Live Action, Mayumi Tanaka returns to voice the legendary Monkey D. Luffy once again. Fans saw Mayumi Tanaka interact with Inaki in the announcement video and, by the looks of it, the two already hit it off.
4 Kazuya Nakai - Voice Of Zoro
Kazuya Nakai is a legendary voice actor as well and he has been the voice of Zoro ever since the introduction of this character. Zoro is an incredibly beloved character and also the very first member that Luffy recruits to his group. Ever since the two meet in Shells Town, Zoro has been by Luffy's side as his most trusted subordinate.
As such, it was extremely important to get his voice down perfectly for the Japanese dub of Netflix's One Piece Live Action. Now, however, it has been confirmed beyond any shadow of a doubt that fans are going to enjoy the Zoro they know and love, as Nakai is returning to take on this role as well. Fans can expect his brilliant voice to bring Zoro back to life once again.
3 Akemi Okamura - Voice Of Nami
Akemi Okamura has been the voice of Nami for decades and she is going to continue to do so in the Japanese dub of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series. Akemi Okamura is a brilliant voice actor and has been involved in some iconic moments in the story, such as when Nami asks Luffy for help during Arlong Park, among many other iconic scenes.
Nami is a very important part of the story, featuring alongside Zoro and Luffy in the very first volume of the series. For her to be brought to life by Akemi Okamura, the person who has been deeply attached to this character ever since the very first day, is extremely special for fans all over the world. Fans are very excited to see her return to voice Nami in Netflix's One Piece Live Action series.
2 Kappei Yamaguchi - Voice Of Usopp
Kappei Yamaguchi is the famous voice of Usopp and one of the funniest voices in all of One Piece. Yamaguchi took on the role of Usopp in the Syrup Village arc of the anime and, it appears that he is going to do the same here as he was recently announced to be Usopp's voice.
Out of the entirety of East Blue 5, Kappei Yamaguchi takes on a unique role as he delivers both intense as well as hilarious moments. Usopp is a very difficult character to bring to life, given how he struggles with cowardice and bravery at the same time. Any other voice actor for the Japanese dub of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series would just not do. Thankfully, Kappei Yamaguchi returns to take this role at the helm and deliver the voice of Usopp that fans are used to hearing.
1 Hiroaki Hirata - Voice Of Sanji
Hiroaki Hirata is the voice of Sanji in the One Piece anime and he is all set to return to voice Sanji in the Japanese dub of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series as well. Sanji is quite a flamboyant character with quite some panache and some suave attached to him. To bring that to life, Hiroaki Hirata always does his utmost best and no voice for Sanji is more fitting than his.
Thankfully for the fans, Hirata will return on Netflix's One Piece Live Action series and bring Taz Skylar's version of Sanji to life again. For the fans who are not used to listening to their beloved Straw Hats in English, they can now opt for the Japanese dub instead and enjoy the same voices that they, perhaps, grew up with.
