The Witcher season four's release date may still be a while away yet, but that doesn't mean the fantasy series' cast members don't want to stop talking about it. Graham McTavish, who plays the Redanian spymaster, Sigismund Dijkstra, talks about the show's writing in season four, as well as airing his opinion about the series replacing the iconic Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth. The Witcher has been one of Netflix's most popular shows in recent times, including both the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin and the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Graham McTavish Praises The Witcher Season 4's Writing

In an interview with The Nerd Shepherd via What's On Netflix, Graham McTavish, who plays Sigismund Dijkstra in Netflix's The Witcher, talked about the upcoming fourth season of the show. Although McTavish, who has starred in House of the Dragon and Castlevania, among others, couldn't give too much away about The Witcher season four, he did say that working alongside Liam Hemsworth was "a joy" and the show is "very lucky" to have him as well as Henry Cavill. McTavish did let slip a very small detail though, regarding season four, by stating that "There’s plenty in store—plenty of the usual double-dealing that you can expect from the characters.”

The seasoned Scottish actor also compared the transformation the show has gone through to James Bond in regard to changing out its leading men, as the iconic spy film and the fantasy show has seen many iterations over the years. McTavish said that the changes, even though controversial for fans, haven't seemed to impact The Witcher and that "if the scripts remain good—which they have—I think the transition will be very, very seamless, actually.” This statement might give undecided viewers the reassurance they need to continue with the show. Fans have already seen new faces enter The Witcher season four's fantasy world with the likes of Gareth David-Lloyd, who has appeared in other shows such as Torchwood and is also the voice of Solas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The third season o f The Witcher was released in the summer of 2023 and production for season four of The Witcher began early in 2024. However, the good news is that the fourth and fifth seasons are being filmed back to back, so fans won't have to wait as long as they did for previous seasons. With 2025 just around the corner, it will be interesting to see what's in store this time around for The Witcher and if Hemsworth can grunt as well as Cavill.
