Netflix has a major event coming up in May. The streaming giant is expected to give an update about several of its shows, including the anticipated One Piece Season 2.

The live-action adaptation of the hit manga series by Eiichiro Oda debuted on Netflix in August 2023. It starred Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji, to name a few. The first season was well-received, with fans and critics applauding it for being faithful to the source material. Among the factors they enjoyed were the energetic performances of the cast members and the visual effects. Due to its success, the streaming giant greenlit Season 2 two weeks after its debut. However, it's nearly two years since and there's no definite update on when the next season will drop. However, there are rumors that major news is on the way.

What's on Netflix, an independent Netflix fansite covering all the latest news from the streaming giant, including its new releases and what's coming up next, announced the Netflix Tudum lineup on X, formerly Twitter. Among the shows on the list are One Piece, Wednesday, Happy Gilmore 2, Stranger Things, Frankenstein, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, The Rip, Emily in Paris, Love is Blind, The Life List, America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys and WWE. Since One Piece is the first on the list, fans are expecting Netflix to share a major update about its second season — probably its first full trailer or a definite release date.

One Piece Season 2 wrapped up filming in February. The cast and crew commemorated the event by sharing a photo of the cast members rocking their anime-inspired costumes on Instagram. Eagled-eye fans immediately noticed Rudd's Nami wearing the same costume as her anime counterpart. She has orange hair with a blue-green top and black skorts with rings. She completed her outfit with brown boots and a sling bag. Fans also approved of Usopp and Santi's costumes. Several new characters, including the fan-favorite Chopper, are also confirmed to join One Piece Season 2. Mackenyu confirmed that he had already met the character on set and he was the "cutest." Joe Manganiello will also debut in the upcoming season as Crocodile.

Fans have been left in the dark about One Piece Season 2, so they are thrilled that the show is part of the upcoming Tudum, a global fan event set for May 31. In February, fans were left brokenhearted when Netflix released the list of projects fans could expect this year and One Piece wasn't on the list. However, despite not making it to the announcement, fans are still hoping that the show will be released later this year. Hopefully, this concern will be addressed at Tudum.

Also, aside from announcing the official release date, it's best if Netflix drops the first trailer. If One Piece Season 2 is coming out later this year, it's best to share the teaser because the release will be just a few months away. Yes, it is still possible for the second season to be out later this year because the post-production timeline usually takes six to nine months. Considering this, Netflix might release Season 2 in the last quarter of the year or earlier.
