Comedy fans had much to rejoice about when Netflix picked up A Man on the Inside for a second season. Now, they have even more reason for celebration as the cast list for the new season of the Ted Danson show is absolutely bonkers.

Although Netflix's A Man on the Inside stars comedy legend Ted Danson and was created by Michael Schur of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Good Place fame, the show's success came as a surprise to many when it was released in November 2024. After all, it's not like Netflix is a bastion of original comedy outside their numerous stand-up specials. Luckily, A Man on the Inside proved to be a big enough hit to garner a second season from the streaming giant, and the production team has gone all out with the cast list. Although the first season featured plenty of recognizable names like Danson, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Eugene Cordero, Sally Struthers, and Marc Evan Jackson, the new season's cast is a whole different beast.

Netflix has announced the cast for A Man on the Inside's second season via their official Tudum blog, and it's no joke. Alongside the returning Ted Danson, Netflix listed the outrageously stacked collection of new faces joining him: Gary Cole, Michaela Conlin, Max Greenfield, Sam Huntington, Jason Mantzoukas, Constance Marie, David Strathairn, Jill Talley, Madison Hu, Lisa Gilroy, Linda Park, and Mary Steenburgen. Yes, A Man on the Inside is set to star multiple Academy Award nominees in its second season. This is not your average, everyday sitcom!

A Man on the Inside Is Bringing The Heat For Its Second Season With An Absolutely Stacked Cast

It is hard to overstate just how impressive this cast is. Gary Cole has been as prominent a dramatic actor (The West Wing, The Good Wife, NCIS) as he is a comedic one (Office Space, Talladega Nights, Pineapple Express). Max Greenfield has become one of his generation's go-to sitcom stars (New Girl, The Neighborhood, Bob's Burgers), Michaela Conlin spent twelve years starring on Bones, and Jason Mantzoukas is one of the hardest working comedic actors today, having appeared in everything from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Big Mouth to Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Taskmaster.

Of course, the two most prominent names to join the cast are David Strathairn and Danson's wife, Mary Steenburgen. After making his film debut in 1980's Return of the Secaucus 7, Strathairn has simply never stopped acting on screens both big and small. With nearly 150 acting credits to his name on IMDb, Strathairn's career is quite astonishing. For example, A League of Their Own, L.A. Confidential, Good Night and Good Luck, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Lincoln are just a few of his film credits. On television, Strathairn has shown up in The Sopranos, Billions, The Blacklist, and The Expanse, among many others.

If Strathairn is the most prominent name to join A Man on the Inside, then Steenburgen is a close second. While modern audiences most likely know her from more recent comedies like Elf, Step Brothers, and Book Club, Steenburgen is an Oscar-winning actor of the highest caliber, having won Best Supporting Actress in 1980 for Melvin and Howard. The Arkansas-born star is also familiar with acting on the small screen, with roles in Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, Justified, and Orange Is the New Black coming immediately to mind. Suffice it to say, Netflix is going all out on the second season of A Man on the Inside, and here's hoping it all works out for them in the end.
