NBA 2K26: All Takeover Requirements

Takeovers return in NBA 2K26, but the overall list of Takeovers and their abilities has been slimmed down for this year's release. The Takeovers that do remain in NBA 2K26 will have an even greater impact on your gameplay than before, however, and you'll want to plan your MyCareer build around your desired Takeover Abilities.

NBA 2K26 even introduces the ability to create custom Takeovers with unique sets of boosted skills combined with your favorite Takeover Abilities, but those won't be available until much further in your NBA career. You'll only have access to the default set of Takeovers to begin with, and you have to meet certain requirements in order to unlock them. Here are all of the Takeover requirements in NBA 2K26.

NBA 2K26 Takeover Ability Requirements

There are 10 unique Takeover Abilities in NBA 2K26. Here are the attribute requirements to activate each of them.

Lethal Layup	80 Driving Layup	Improves the ability to finish tough layups and floaters in traffic.
Paint Surgeon	80 Standing Dunk 80 Close Shot 75 Post Control	Increased success rate for dunking and finishing under the basket. Easier to beat defenders with post backdowns, moves, fakes, and shots.
Poster Machine	90 Driving Dunk 75 Vertical	Amplifies overall dunking ability, making Skill Dunks and Alley-Oops easier. Finishes strong with contact against defenders.
Rim Guardian	80 Interior Defense 85 Block	Boosts ability to defend around the basket and in the post. Shows where your missed shots will land ahead of time.
Sharpshooter	80 Three-Point Shot 80 Midrange Shot	Boosts shot-making from stand-still and off the dribble, as well as increased shot chance off anklebreakers. Also improves ability to get open off the ball.
Deep Bomber	90 Three-Point Shot	Extends your shooting ability well beyond the 3-point line.
Blur	85 Ball Handle 80 Speed With Ball	Enhances the ability to drive by defenders, making it easier to get to the rim.
Crasher	80 Defensive Rebound 80 Offensive Rebound 85 Strength	Improves boxout success to secure more rebounds. Unleash effective and powerful screens that can catch unsuspecting defenders off guard.
Dishmaster	85 Pass Accuracy	Significantly boosts a teammate's shooting ability with pinpoint passes.
Glue	85 Perimeter Defense 85 Steal	Lock up ball handlers to force stops, pickups, and fumbles when bodying them. Higher efficiency in getting on-ball and pass lane steals.

Takeover Abilities are activated once you reach level five for your equipped Takeover. You'll benefit from the stat boosts associated with your Takeover no matter what, but the Takeover Ability will only activate if you meet every attribute requirement.

There are dozens of Takeovers with different sets of stat boosts, but they all pull from the same pool of 11 abilities for their level five bonuses. For example, the Sharpshooter Takeover Ability is available for the 3&D, Clinic, Glass Gunner, and Offensive Artist Takeovers even though they all boost different sets of stats during a game.

You can create a custom Takeover once you progress far enough in your NBA 2K26 career to further specialize your player with specific stat boosts and Takeover Abilities. It's a good idea to make sure your player has a strong spread of skills so you won't be stuck with just one or two Takeover Abilities in MyCareer.
