There is a default shot meter in NBA 2K24 but very few players will find that the standard is their favorite. There are all kinds of styles, colors, shapes, and locations for the shot meter so that each gamer can customize their own until the feedback feels just right.
But unlike making new players, shots, and animations, this particular feature can be a bit difficult to find. NBA 2K24 has done some work giving players a selection of shot meters but it seems they've done equal work to hide this selection as well. Thankfully, once players know where to look, it can be quick to change.
Changing The Shot Meter In MyCareer
- Menu > MyPlayer > Animations > Customize HUD > Shot Meter
While in MyCareer, open the menu and navigate to the Shot Meter section. From here, players can change the graphic shape, size, color, location, and even instances when the shot meter pops up. After finding the best team for a shooting guard, this should be the first place any shooter goes.
The Customize HUD section also allows players to change their perfect release animations and sound effects. Those who play frequently will want a nice, clear effect so they can get an early transition into defense.
Fatigue meters, turbo meters, and takeover icons can also be changed in this same area. The HUD is a big part of getting comfortable with the timing and feedback for the controls. When using the highest-rated players, they can feel even better when getting crystal clear and customized meters.
Changing The Shot Meter In Other Modes
- Main Menu > Features > Controller Settings > Scroll Down
Unfortunately, unlike in MyCareer, the other settings don't get to preview the shot meter when changing it. Because of this, it's a best practice to play around in MyCareer with these settings and then, when getting it write, make a note about what worked best and copy the settings in this menu.
Don't feel locked in. Remember that the shot meter can be changed at any time and for any reason. Experts and veterans use a wide variety of shot meters to suit their tastes and amateurs should do the same.
