Since they were children, Hashirama and Madara have engaged in various contests where Hashirama’s skill, intelligence, and strategy allowed him to outmatch Madara over and over again.
Fast-forward to the future, Hashirama never lost a single fight with Madara while he was still alive. Hashirama Didn’t Seek the Hokage Position
