As a kid, Naruto was considered a failure by his peers and teachers, as he couldn't utilize the simplest techniques. During his time at the Academy, Naruto was ridiculed by almost everyone around him.

Naruto Mastering The Sage Mode Was The First Step

From the beginning, it had been clear that Naruto had an affinity for Wind Release, but he didn't learn to infuse the nature into his attacks until after the timeskip. Kakashi and Yamato consistently trained him until Naruto successfully infused Wind Release into the Rasengan, which also paved the way for the knucklehead ninja to create the Wind Release Rasenshuriken. As an S-rank ninjutsu, it is extremely potent and can cause cellular damage. When Tsunade learned about its side effects, she forbade Naruto from ever using it. But Naruto's Sage Mode made it easier for him to utilize the Rasenshuriken, as he could launch it like a projectile.
Naruto's most notable teacher was Jiraiya, a member of the Legendary Sannin. Naruto spent a lot of time training with him and even traveled with him across the land. Under Jiraiya's tutelage, Naruto learned to use the Summoning Technique and the Rasengan. With time, the Rasengan became one of Naruto's signature techniques, and he used it for the remainder of the story. While Jiraiya did teach Naruto the two techniques, for some reason, it didn't cross his mind to show him the Toad Sage Mode.
After Jiraiya's death, Naruto was trained by Fukasaku on Mount Myouboku. It took the hero quite some time, but eventually, he was successful in learning the Sage Mode. As most fans already know, the Sage Mode is not just a means to increase the potency of one's attacks, but it also improves their sensory abilities. Naruto was never skilled at molding his chakra, so by training with toads at Mount Myouboku, he took a major leap towards becoming more proficient, which helped him to use other nature transformations with ease.

But he didn't gain access to all four until after Hagoromo bestowed him with the power of the Six Paths. His prowess to infuse a particular type of chakra and element increased when he gained access to the chakra of all nine tailed beasts. This allowed Naruto to create attacks such as Lava Release Rasenshuriken and Magnet Release Rasenshuriken. In addition to infusing the Rasenshuriken with basic nature transformations, Naruto became capable of adding them to other attacks.

Firstly, Naruto had insanely high chakra reserves, which allowed him to keep fighting for long periods without having to take a break. Naruto's chakra reserves were a result of him being the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails and then being bestowed with the Six Paths Chakra by Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Additionally, the chakra from the other tailed beasts improved his reserves further.

Secondly, Naruto could use two types of Sage Modes. Initially, Naruto learned to utilize the Toad Sage Mode, which helped him understand how to harness natural energy. Then, in the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto gained access to Six Paths Sage Mode, which was basically an upgrade in every possible way. Naruto's physical abilities increased severalfold, and so did his senses. He also became better at using molding chakra, so he didn't waste too much time doing so.
Aside from the other two qualities, Naruto's determination and willpower were pivotal to his success as a ninja. When others saw no way out, Naruto kept on persisting until he found a way to turn things around. This has been evident several times in the series. Whenever Naruto was faced with a task that seemed impossible, he never hesitated and always kept pushing on. Even when people called him a fool for chasing Sasuke, he didn't stop. Instead, his resolve strengthened further, and he became even more determined to pursue his friend.
Last but not least is Naruto's ninja way, which truly separates him from the rest. Naruto was called the child of philosophy, but he never truly understood it until after he traveled with Jiraiya.

Thankfully, they had Naruto on their side, who decided to talk to Obito for a change. Naruto reminded Obito of his past and ambitions. Initially, Obito hesitated, but Naruto kept on going. It's safe to say that without Naruto's aid, the alliance would have been destroyed by Obito. Considering Naruto's accomplishments, it's hardly surprising that he is considered one of the foremost anime characters of all time. When Naruto ended, fans were devastated, as it meant they would never get to see their beloved hero again, but then Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was announced.

Before Boruto had even begun, fans were apprehensive about it. They wanted a story focusing on Naruto and not on the characters who came after him, but they decided to give it a go anyway. The audience trusted Kishimoto's decision, but alas, it turned out to be their greatest mistake. Instead of polishing Naruto's legacy, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations completely ruined it. He was sidelined and even robbed of his abilities. Naruto ended up becoming a complete joke. Naturally, fans disliked how Naruto was treated, and a lot of them even stopped reading the manga altogether.
