This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.
The Boruto series has introduced fans to a number of powerful characters. Right from the beginning, fans were introduced to some very powerful members of the Otsutsuki Clan. However, despite new introductions, Naruto Uzumaki stood tall as one of the mightiest in the series. A big portion of Naruto's strength came from his Tailed Beast, Kurama. Fans know that Naruto was a very powerful Jinchuriki, the likes of which couldn't be matched in battle by many.
Madara Uchiha Has Officially Lost His #1 Spot As The Strongest Sharingan User
Madara is powerful, but he isn't the strongest Sharingan user in Naruto anymore.
However, as the Boruto series continued, Naruto's influence over the story slowly faded, as did his powers. In fact, right now, Naruto Uzumaki cannot even be called the strongest Jinchuriki in the story and this is quite clear to see. Instead of the Jinchuriki system, Boruto seems to have introduced a new power that essentially sees Tailed Beasts incarnate in human forms, such as Jura.
Naruto Is No Longer A Jinchuriki In Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki was the strongest Jinchuriki in the world at the beginning of the Boruto series. Fans saw him utilize the power of Kurama at a very high level, and he also held his connection with the other Tailed Beasts, giving him the opportunity to utilize their power in battle. However, his connection with the Tailed Beasts was severed after the death of Kurama.
You be good, Naruto. And don't follow me too soon. — Kurama to Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki was no longer a Jinchuriki after the battle against Isshiki. Although still powerful, he was a shadow of his former self. Naruto still held a high level of power, but the Tailed Beast connection was no longer there. After his death, Killer Bee officially became the strongest Jinchuriki in the story.
Jinchuriki System Is Officially Outdated In Boruto
While the Jinchuriki are quite clearly very powerful, as seen in the Naruto series, Boruto plans to replace the system in its entirety. It seems that the concept of sealing Tailed Beasts within individuals is not something that Kishimoto and Ikemoto are aiming for. Instead, a new concept has emerged in Two Blue Vortex that will essentially replace the Jinchuriki system forever.
Listen, Himawari. You're not a Jinchuriki. You're more akin to Jura. — Kurama to Himawari
Boruto: Kishimoto Just Confirmed Sasuke's Next Major Power Up After Return
Sasuke has a major power-up incoming, and it will make him stronger than ever in Boruto.
When Jura first appeared in Boruto, fans were immediately told that he is quite special when compared to the other Shinju. This is simply because, unlike the others, he is not based on a parent body. He is the incarnation of the juvenile Ten-tails itself, and that makes him incredibly powerful and almost unkillable.
Later on, fans were told that just like Jura, Himawari is an incarnation of Kurama as well. This was quite shocking because most fans assumed that Himawari was actually a Jinchuriki. Now, it has been officially confirmed that she is something far stronger.
New Tailed Beast Incarnates Are Stronger Than Jinchuriki
Jinchuriki were once the pinnacle of power in the Naruto series. Now, however, their existence is outdated. It appears that Tailed Beasts will now manifest themselves as incarnations within humans, instead of simply being sealed inside humans. This would be better for the Tailed Beasts, as they would be able to forge friendly bonds with those around them, and it would also make them far stronger, because the narrative has already established the fact that Tailed Beasts incarnate are far stronger than Jinchuriki.
With Boruto, the concept of Jinchuriki is now officially dead. Right now, Killer Bee is most likely the last Jinchuriki, and he too will eventually fade from existence, which means that moving forward, only Tailed Beast incarnates will exist in the story.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 29 is set for its official release on December 18, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
