This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

Studio Pierrot is responsible for producing some of the most awe-inspiring anime of all time. The studio has created a legacy that only a few can dare to match. In fact, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that many modern studios monitor the work of Pierrot in hopes of emulating its success.

Studio Pierrot has a good track record, but that doesn't mean it hasn't made any blunders since its inception. Naturally, these gaffes affect certain anime characters and tarnish their reputation among the audience. One of the biggest victims of Studio Pierrot's odd decisions is Sakura Haruno from Naruto.

Studio Pierrot's Decisions Made Naruto Fans Hate Sakura

  • Studio Pierrot ruined Sakura's character
  • She is much better in the manga

When the Naruto anime was airing, viewers were always discussing how despicable Sakura was as a person. She was considered callous and hateful, mainly because of her bias against Naruto. However, anime-only fans had no idea that Sakura was nothing like that in the manga. It wasn't until much later that some anime watchers weren't hostile towards Sakura. Unfortunately, a lot of Naruto fans still don't know how badly Studio Pierrot handled Sakura. So, the only way to change it is by putting the studio's choices under the microscope.

One of the earliest decisions to ruin Sakura's character took place in Part 1, when all members of Team 7 were still Hidden Leaf Genin. In the manga, Sakura tells Naruto not to attack the opponent alone, as Genin are no match for him. In the anime, Sakura repeats most of her lines but adds one more about Sasuke, making it seem that she was downplaying Naruto. Another instance where Sakura has been made to look extra vicious is during the Chunin Exams' writing phase.

Since Naruto wasn't book smart, he was struggling in the exams. Sakura knew Naruto well, so she realized that he would be struggling. In the anime, she said that it was the worst type of test for Naruto, and it was followed by a smile. Once again, it showed that Sakura had some personal agenda against him. Meanwhile, in the manga, she actually showed more compassion towards Naruto.

Studio Pierrot also removed a scene where Sakura put her life on the line to save Naruto from an incoming weapon strike. If these instances weren't incriminating enough, there are actually plenty more situations that can easily prove Studio Pierrot's weird obsession with making Sakura look bad. After talking to Sarada for a while, Sakura reflected on what her daughter had become.

Studio Pierrot changed it, and in the anime version, Sakura called herself a failure of a mother. In another manga panel, Sakura said that she would save Naruto and Sasuke. Yet in the anime, the script was changed to something that made Sakura seem extremely foolish.

Sakura Is One Of The Best Characters In Naruto

Sakura Is Undoubtedly An Amazing Character

After going through so many instances where Sakura was mistreated by Studio Pierrot, it's easy to see why she was hated by the majority of anime fans. Of course, it's not entirely their fault that Studio Pierrot chose to ignore the source material and make unnecessary changes to it. Fans who have read the manga will know that Sakura is among the best characters in the story. She may not have overpowered abilities like Naruto or Sasuke, so it's unfair to compare her to either of them. She is actually strong and capable of fighting against any of the top combatants in Naruto.

She has excellent control over her chakra, allowing her to use jutsu without wasting too much of it. Sakura's immaculate hold over chakra also enabled her to master medical ninjutsu and Strength of a Hundred seal. Furthermore, she is said to be immune to any type of Genjutsu, which is a massive feat in itself. If one were to combine Sakura's accomplishments and her actual personality, then it's simple to see why she is among the standout characters in Naruto.
