Protagonist Naruto Uzumaki thrilled fans of Naruto with all kinds of fantastic tricks, jutsu, and transformations to keep cranking up the ante in episode after episode. Over time, the mighty Rasengan emerged as the most iconic jutsu in Naruto's arsenal, not to mention one of the strongest. The Rasengan is an A-ranked jutsu that Naruto's own father Minato created, and of course, Naruto founds ways to make it bigger and better than ever.

That being said, Naruto is hardly a one-trick pony with the Rasengan. Many of his flashiest victories over foes like Kabuto and the Six Paths of Pain were possible because of the Rasengan, yet Naruto has much more than that to offer. Aside from the baseline Rasengan, Naruto can wield similar jutsu and a variety of forms to challenge any foe on the field of battle. Some of those abilities and forms are almost as iconic as the Rasengan itself, and Naruto Uzumaki simply wouldn't be the same without them.

Taijutsu is one of the Most Basic Yet Powerful Tools in Naruto's Arsenal

It may almost seem silly to bring up basic taijutsu in an anime world filled with magical fire, illusions, and tailed monsters, but it still counts for something. Of course, the most dedicated taijutsu users like Might Guy and Rock Lee take this technique to the highest level, but Naruto isn't too far behind. From the start, he's been a hands-on thinker who thrives in the heat of the moment with physical challenges.

That's why taijutsu has remained a simple yet powerful tool in Naruto's arsenal. He began as a decent taijutsu user, such as when he faced Neji Hyuga in the Chunin Exam arc, and then he took it to the next level when facing newer foes in Naruto Shippuden. It's no coincidence that two of Naruto's other trademark abilities, the Shadow Clone Jutsu and Rasengan, rely heavily on taijutsu to function.

The Shadow Clone Jutsu Helped Naruto Become a Ninja in the First Place

Naruto Can Fight Anyone With an Army of Himself

One of the first jutsu that Naruto ever used in the anime, and the first he used to great effect, was the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Alongside the Rasengan itself, this is Naruto's most distinctive and memorable jutsu, one that has served him well since Episode 1. Unlike the Rasengan, which was invented by Naruto's father Minato Namikaze, the Shadow Clone Jutsu is the brainchild of Tobirama Senju. Naruto has only a distant connection to the Second Hokage, but he does take this jutsu much further than Tobirama ever could have.

In particular, it helps how Naruto has the immense chakra of Kurama inside him, which has been fueling Naruto's Shadow Clone armies since the start. No genin could produce hundreds of clones at once or even a platoon's worth, but Naruto made it look easy. As time went on, Naruto found more and better uses for his clones, such as helping him create and launch jutsu like the Rasengan and its variants. Naruto might even transform his clones to fool the enemy, such as in the Forest of Death.

The Rasenshuriken Can Shred Any Foe in Seconds

The Rasenshuriken is adjacent to the original Rasengan as a swirling, melee-based jutsu that Naruto can form in his hands. The original Rasengan made use of generic chakra, with Minato trying and failing to add elemental chakra to his jutsu. Later, his son Naruto used Shadow Clones to get around that problem, adding wind-based chakra until a new jutsu was formed: the Rasenshuriken.

Naruto trained hard in Naruto Shippuden to invent this fantastic new move, perfecting it in time to face the immortal duo Hidan and Kakuzu of the Akatsuki organization. Teams 7 and 10 were having a tough time against those villains, only for Naruto to pop in and obliterate Kakuzu with his stunning new jutsu. However, the Rasenshuriken demands a lot of chakra, so Naruto makes limited use of it. In later arcs, this jutsu was overshadowed by even stronger jutsu and forms Naruto used, so it's half-forgotten today.

Sage Mode Was Needed to Overcome Pain's Awesome Power

Naruto Used Sage Mode Better Than Jiraiya Did

Many of Naruto's most potent abilities are transformations, a way for him to honor the Super Saiyan transformations seen in Dragon Ball Z. Over time, Naruto started using ever stronger and more advanced transformations, such as his one-tailed biju cloak. The next big step actually had little to do with Kurama's chakra, with Naruto instead training at Mt. Myoboku to master Sage Mode, the same jutsu that Jiraiya and Hashirama Senju had once wielded.

These iconic moments prove why Naruto's the G.O.A.T.

This stunning ability was exactly what Naruto needed to catch up to Pain's power levels and defeat that villain once and for all. It wasn't easy, but Naruto pulled it off, and it helped how his Shadow Clones remained at Mt. Myoboku to keep channeling more nature energy into the real Naruto. Notably, Naruto's usage of Sage Mode was more refined than Jiraiya's own, given how Naruto's face was less marked and deformed than Jiraiya's had been.

Kurama Chakra Mode Was the Symbol of Naruto's Mastery Over Kurama

Kurama Was No Longer a Monster to be Feared

Even with Sage Mode at his disposal, Naruto knew he still needed Kurama's enormous power to see him through some of the toughest fights. To that end, Naruto moved past his one-tailed cloak and even his fearsome four-tailed cloak to master Kurama's chakra. After training with Killer B as a fellow jinchuriki, Naruto was ready to become one with the monster inside him. That led to one of Naruto's greatest abilities of all: Kurama Chakra Mode.

Also known as Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, this awesome transformation made Naruto a force to be reckoned with even when facing the mightiest ninjas of the era. In such a form, Naruto can use Tailed Beast Balls as yet another variant of the Rasengan. With Kurama Chakra Mode, Naruto may even manifest parts of the nine-tailed fox's body as appropriate, a fine expression of Naruto's half-other nature.

Asura Kurama Mode Was the Apex of Naruto's Power in Shippuden

That Kind of Power Was Needed to Survive the Endgame

The power scaling in Naruto Shippuden didn't end when Naruto learned to fight with Kurama as one. Eventually, not even that was enough to take on foes like a fully powered Sasuke Uchiha, so Naruto added more abilities of his own into the mix. By that point, the truth of Hagoromo Otsutsuki's power and nature became known, and Naruto tapped into that power to become someone truly incredible. Thus, Naruto ended up with Asura Kurama Mode.

This form blended Kurama's chakra with Six Paths Senjutsu to turn Naruto into the ultimate warrior. In particular, Naruto could use Shadow Clones to form a six-armed being, one that can use the biggest jutsu around to face Sasuke on equal terms. No other ability could have ensured Naruto's survival when facing a fearsome attack like Indra's Arrow.

Baryon Mode is Terrifyingly Powerful But Also Costly to Use

Naruto Must Make Sure to Not Overuse Baryon Mode in Battle

Naruto's Strongest Transformation Was Baryon Mode boruto

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, a fully grown Naruto Uzumaki managed to transform yet again. His titanic abilities saw him through the biggest and nastiest battles in Naruto Shippuden, only for the events of Boruto to force his hand as he grew once again. Thus, Baryon Mode came to be, one of Naruto's most recent and devastating abilities of all.

This mode is a double-edge sword, and Naruto knows it. This form grants Naruto peerless speed and power, but it also quickly drains Naruto's and Kurama's chakra and even Naruto's life force. Naruto must use this astonishing ability with great care to keep it stable and relatively safe to use. Hence, Naruto won't fire up Baryon Mode for just any fight; this is his high-risk ace in the hole.
