Naruto is one of the most beloved and recognizable series worldwide. It shaped the childhoods of many anime fans and left a mark on the world of anime as a whole. Sadly, the series concluded over a decade ago. Since then, a huge gap has been left unfulfilled both on Shonen Jump and in the anime world. Naruto did get a sequel, called Boruto, but it's been quite a controversial series, to say the least. Boruto isn't universally liked by Naruto fans, and many believe it destroyed the legacy of the original series. Regardless, a brand new anime series might be coming in 2026, and it could be the replacement for Naruto that fans have been waiting for. This series is Kagurabachi.

Kagurabachi Might Be Coming in 2026
- One of Weekly Shonen Jump’s Biggest New Hits
- An Anime That Could Replace Naruto
Kagurabachi is a series that has yet to go fully viral, but at the moment, it is one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest new series. Kagurabachi is rather new, and only started serialization in late 2023. Yet despite how new this series is, it might be getting an anime adaptation very soon due to its amazing performance. While it hasn't been officially announced yet, everything hints at the anime being released next year. A web domain has already been registered for it, which all but confirms it. The likely studio that's being mentioned is Cygames Pictures. This studio isn’t huge, but it has done incredibly well on series like The Summer Hikaru Died and Uma Musume, so fans are very excited, to say the least.

Kagurabachi definitely has the potential to be the new Naruto and replace it in the world of big hit mainstream anime. It has an incredibly touching story, and a protagonist who lives for battles, despite often being the underdog. The author of Kagurabachi has also openly stated being inspired by series like Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen. Fans hope that as many other big series have concluded, Kagurabachi steps up. Only time will tell how successful Kagurabachi’s anime will be.
When Will Kagurabachi Season 1 Be Released?
Nobody Knows Yet
Kagurabachi’s anime has yet to be officially confirmed, so nobody knows when this series will be released or how far into production it is. Many fans do hope it will be around 2026, and all the leaks seem to suggest that as well. In theory, Kagurabachi could finally go big next year.

Will Naruto Get an Official New Replacement?
- Naruto Is Getting 4 New Episodes
- Release Date Remains Unknown
While Kagurabachi could replace Naruto as a series, some fans aren’t yet ready to let go of the Naruto franchise. Fans want new Naruto content that isn’t Boruto, and that is actually becoming a reality. The four Naruto episodes that were promised two years ago are reportedly finally done and could be released anytime. These episodes will take the story back to before the events of Shippuden, which is going to be quite exciting to see.
I realize that Boruto started as a sequel to Naruto, but due to Naruto's massive presence, it's been a pretty tough road to travel. Boruto has finally emerged as a proper protagonist in his own right. But will he be a hero on the same level as his father? Or maybe even surpass him? To be honest... I'm not entirely sure what'll happen, myself. That'll depend on the support of our readers, so please keep on cheering for us. —Ikemoto
