This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.

In the world of Naruto, Tailed Beasts are an incredibly important asset to ninja villages. Although they've existed for over a thousand years, it was only after Hashirama Senju started collecting them that they started being used as weapons by ninja villages in Naruto. Naturally, the strength of the Tailed Beasts matters a lot in this story. The stronger a Tailed Beast, the stronger the village, and this is no surprise.

Over the years, fans have seen a good display of strength from all the powerful Tailed Beasts, and it is easy to see that out of the main nine, Kurama, also known as the Nine Tails, is the strongest. While this stands true for the main nine, there is another Tailed Beast that Kishimoto has confirmed to be stronger than even Kurama, and that's the Ten Tails, which fans saw debut properly in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

The Ten-Tails Is The Strongest Tailed Beast, Not Kurama

The Ten-Tails Was Beaten By Hagoromo Otsutsuki

  • Kurama Is The Strongest Of The Nine

Kurama is a powerful Tailed Beast and there is no denying that fact. Out of the main nine Tailed Beasts, Kurama is actually the strongest Tailed Beast. Kishimoto gave the fans a good demonstration of this in the Fourth Great Ninja War, where Kurama, upon forging a bond with Naruto Uzumaki, took on around 5 Tailed Beasts at the same time and was still the dominant force in the battle.

To make things crazier, this was only the Yang half of Kurama, and as the Yin half was sealed within Minato Namikaze at this point. Kurama’s powers know no bounds.

But, strong as he is, Kurama is absolutely no match for the Ten Tails. The Ten-Tails is the original form of the Tailed Beast and can only be fully awakened when the chakra of all the nine Tailed Beasts is combined inside the Gedo Statue. This makes sense, given that the Ten-Tails was originally inside Hagoromo Otsutsuki, and was then split into nine Tailed Beasts before his death.

When Naruto tried to sense the Ten Tails’power with his Sage Mode, he was shocked to see that it was far beyond his comprehension. The Ten Tails Jinchuriki can easily defeat the Nine Tails Jinchuriki and the gulf between them is absolutely massive. Even with the help of all the other Tailed Beasts, the Ten Tails is just too powerful and cannot be taken down by mere beasts.

Ten Tails Is Stronger, But Kurama Is More Iconic

Fans Love Kurama Far More Than Ten Tails

Kurama says goodbye to Naruto

While it goes without saying that Kurama is the weaker of the two, fans know very well that the Ten Tails can never match his popularity. No fan of Naruto truly likes the Ten Tails because it lacks personality and is exactly what it looks like — a grotesque monster. Kurama is weaker than the Ten Tails, but in terms of popularity, there is no match between the two.
