Summary
- Mangekyo Sharingan Oruhime: Sarada's jutsu creates black holes, powerful for attracting anything.
- Mangekyo Sharingan Amaterasu: Unavoidable black flames that continue burning.
- Possible connection: Ohirume and Amaterasu techniques might be related due to their origins from the same goddess.
Boruto Two Blue Vortex properly introduced in Chapter 21 one of the most overpowered jutsu ever, Ohirume, a technique used by Sarada Uchiha with her Mangekyo Sharingan active.
Sarada had actually already used this jutsu in the previous chapter, but in chapter 21 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex the jutsu was finally named and there was a brief explanation of how it actually works. However, "Ohirume" is another way of referring to the Sun Goddess in Japanese mythology, more popularly known as Amaterasu. Since there is also a jutsu called Amaterasu, are these related techniques?
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 — Sarada's True Power Awakens
Boruto TBV chapter 21 was major for Sarada. She destroys a Shinju with her Mangekyo Sharingan.
Ohirume Mangekyo Sharingan Doujutsu
s
Ohirume is a jutsu that has only been used by Sarada Uchiha. With it, Sarada is able to create black holes that attract/suck in anything that she wants (including living beings).
Don't worry. This ability may have just awakened, but... I already know what it can do.
— Sarada Uchiha in Boruto TBV Chapter 21
In chapters 20 and 21, she summoned four black orbs and controls their position — she can also prevent non-targets from being affected. With the holes, she sucked Ryu in and was able to defeat him. Thus, this is clearly a space-time ninjutsu with gravitational powers.
The series has yet to show more of this technique, its weaknesses (it probably costs a lot of chakra energy), and how to counter this type of attack.
Amaterasu Mangekyo Sharingan Doujutsu
Amaterasu, on the other hand, is a completely different jutsu. It is a Fire Release technique, also known as "the fires from hell". With it, the user produces black flames that are basically unavoidable, and they will continue to burn until the target is completely incinerated, and it cannot be extinguished by ordinary means.
While Amaterasu is a powerful jutsu, it is also quite costly as well, leading the user's eye to bleed. The flames are said to be as hot as the sun, and some claim that Sasuke would have defeated Code with it.
Could These Techniques Be Related?
While their names refer to the same goddess, Amaterasu and Ohirume techniques do not appear to be related for now, except that both are doujutsu that can only be performed with the Mangekyo Sharingan. Whether there is a deeper relationship between them is not yet clear, but it may be revealed in the future.
However, it is possible that the Amaterasu's flames travel through space-time to find the target (though it originally seemed that the flames simply spawned where the user's eye focuses), so there may be a deeper connection between the two techniques — it could be that Ohirume is somehow an advanced form of the Amaterasu technique, even if it is not related to Fire Release.
What's The Link Between The Ohirume Jutsu And The Sun Goddess?
Another thing that is not yet clear is the relationship between the jutsu and the goddess. The Amaterasu jutsu is more clearly inspired by the goddess, associating fire elements with the sun.
While this could be just a reference to the godlike aspects of this jutsu, since Sarada is controlling gravity to some extent, it could be related to the story portraying Sarada as Amaterasu or something like that. The word "Ohirume" means something like "great sun woman", so this could also mean a connection between Sarada and the sun.
Whether or not the connection will become clearer in the future, it seems evident that Sarada will be a key character in the potential final battle against the Otsutsuki, whatever her exact role will be. Though Ohirume is not a shinjutsu, it may be as powerful as one.
