Apple TV+ Reveals Details About Mythic Quest Companion Show

In addition to Mythic Quest Season 4’s date, Apple TV+ also unveiled the new spin-off series titled Side Quest. The series is an anthology comprised of four episodes that will be released immediately after Mythic Quest Season 4’s finale on March 26. The series explores the lives of employees, players, and fans who have been impacted by the game, and the cast includes Anna Konkle, Derek Waters, William Stanford Davis, Bria Henderson, Rome Flynn, Leonard Robinson, Gary Kraus, Annamarie Kasper, Esai Morales, Shalita Grant and McElhenney, plus many more. Ashly Burch, John Howell Harris, and Katie McElhenney serve as creators and executive producers. Side Quest will seemingly continue the successful bottle episode format that Mythic Quest employed throughout its seasons in episodes like “A Dark Quiet Death”, “Backstory!” And “Sarian”.

An expansion of the “Mythic Quest” universe, “Side Quest” explores the lives of employees, players and fans who are impacted by the game in an anthology format.

Despite its comedic and parodying nature, Mythic Quest has often been praised for its accuracy in portraying the working life in the video game industry. Throughout its three seasons so far, Mythic Quest has tackled topics like the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for new game expansions, game development crunch, and the video game-to-movie adaptation trend. As it moves into its fourth season, it will be interesting to see if Mythic Quest adopts some recent real-life industry trends, such as the mass lay-offs and company closures that have impacted the industry of late.

Mythic Quest Season 4 will be released on Apple TV+ starting January 29, 2025.
