My Hero Academia was a sensational series that gained immense popularity in Japan, but also all around the world. My Hero Academia achieved great success, thanks to its incredible story from the manga, but it wouldn’t be as big as it is today without its amazing anime adaptation.
Kohei Horikoshi Recommends The New My Hero Academia Replacement To Fans
MHA has a new replacement recommended by Horikoshi - and it might be Shonen Jump's next big hit.
My Hero Academia’s anime adaptation started in 2016, and it recently reached its beautiful conclusion in 2025. Over almost 10 years, its anime adaptation was handled by Studio Bones, and many would say that it was the studio’s biggest new project.
Now, with My Hero Academia over, however, Studio Bones needs a new golden child, and that series might already be here. At the moment, it seems that Studio Bones’ new replacement for My Hero Academia might just be the new hit series, Gachiakuta. Gachiakuta just kick-started this year, with many new projects already in store for it. Of course, Bones isn't completely abandoning My Hero Academia, and there are more MHA projects on the way as well.

- Studio Bones Will Now Rely On The Big Hit Gachiakuta
My Hero Academia Season 8 had the fans on the edge of their seats with the immense quality that it delivered. Many would consider it the Anime of the Year, and not just because of how great the final arc was. The animation, direction, and production that was delivered by the legendary Studio Bones was on a whole other level. Fans’ expectations were not only met, but absolutely surpassed in every way. My Hero Academia Season 8 was so great that not a single episode scored less than 9/10.
People are not born equal. We each take shape differently, which leads us to care about others. It's because one's mind and body are unlike anyone else's that we're drawn to others in search of common ground. This is the truth about society that I learned when I was 17. — Izuku Midoriya, My Hero Academia
Nevertheless, My Hero Academia’s main anime is now over, and with that, Studio Bones' biggest series is out of the picture. This has left a huge gap for a new series to rise to become the studio’s biggest project, and many believe that to be none other than Gachiakuta.
Gachiakuta Is A Rising New Shonen Series That Has Become An Immediate Sensation
Gachiakuta is a new anime series animated by Studio Bones. This anime was initially released on July 6, 2025, and at the moment, it’s still dropping new episodes weekly, though it’s getting closer to the conclusion of its first season.
It's quite clear to see that Gachiakuta has been a hit with most anime fans. The story, based on the manga of the same name, is written and illustrated by the talented mangaka Kei Urana, and it already has fans hooked. It follows the story of the main character Rudo, who is far from the average shonen MC. Rudo is driven by nothing but revenge. After being dumped into the pit, he awakens to his powers and unlocks vital instruments. Rudo and the other characters of the show are fascinating to follow, and with dark twists and turns, exciting battles, this series has been an enjoyable ride for all.
Gachiakuta Season 1 is not even over yet, and many new projects are already planned for the series. A new video game, for example, is already in development, as well as a stage play.
Gachiakuta Season 2 Has Already Been Confirmed, Showing Special Treatment From Studio Bones
Gachiakuta Season 1 was huge. In Japan, it gained a lot of popularity immediately, and overseas, it became one of Crunchyroll’s most popular series for the year.
The series has, undoubtedly, become massive in a short time. As such, many fans will be pleased to discover that the future of the series is already in motion. Gachiakuta Season 2 has already been confirmed and greenlit by Studio Bones. This is huge, and all fans of the series are excited.
My Hero Academia Anime Will Officially Make A Major Change To The Manga
The anime is about to take a departure from the manga and alter the ending.
The exact details, such as the release date, or even the release year, however, have not yet been revealed to fans. It will take at least until 2027 for a new season, possibly 2028 depending on how many episodes are produced and how everything goes.
Studio Bones Is Still Not Done With My Hero Academia
While My Hero Academia’s main anime is over, and Gachiakuta is rising as Bones’ next big hit, it doesn’t mean that MHA has been abandoned by them. It’s actually quite the opposite. While there is no more manga content to adapt, My Hero Academia is still getting more animated content.
For example, during Jump Festa 2026, it was revealed that My Hero Academia is getting a 12th episode in May 2026, titled “More.” This episode will cover the extra chapter by Horikoshi, MHA chapter 431.
It doesn’t stop there, however. My Hero Academia also has a spin-off sequel animated by Studio Bones, called My Hero Academia Vigilantes. My Hero Academia Vigilantes got its first season in 2025, and it’s returning soon in 2026 with a second season. It’s more than likely that Studio Bones will give this spin-off one to two more seasons.
I'd be lying if I claimed I didn't miss it all. But as long as I can still inspire and encourage others, then I'd still say that this is the tale of how we became great Heroes. All of us, for all this time...this is the tale of how we'll keep reaching out to help for all time. — Izuku Midoriya at the end of My Hero Academia Chapter 430
Of course, one also can’t forget the massive possibility of a My Hero Academia animated movie. While not confirmed yet, it’s almost inevitable at this point. Jump Festa 2026 strongly hinted at it too, as two more future projects remain under wraps for MHA.
My Hero Academia Will Remain Studio Bones’s Most Iconic Series Ever
While Gachiakuta is taking over Studio Bones now, it’s unlikely for it to surpass My Hero Academia in general success. My Hero Academia is, by far, one of the most recognizable anime series ever, and its main character, Deku, is also one of the biggest faces of Shonen anime.
Gachiakuta is still far from reaching this level of fame. The only other Studio Bones anime that can truly compete with My Hero Academia is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood could be said to be the greatest anime of all time.
In general ratings, it’s still above My Hero Academia. Both series will be remembered for years to come, but whether that will be the case for Gachiakuta remains to be seen.
My Hero Academia is a story of Heroes in a world where special powers, called Quirks, are bestowed upon people at birth. In a world where Heroes and villains fight, Deku aims to become the greatest Hero of all time like his idol, All Might. The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. My Hero Academia is also airing its final season, which will consist of 11 episodes in total. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.
