My Hero Academia, a monumental superhero series, was one of the biggest manga featured in Weekly Shonen Jump until late 2024. It stood alongside the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece as the biggest hits in the magazine. Sadly, the series officially wrapped up with the conclusion of the Final War arc. With the end of My Hero Academia, there was a huge gap left to fill in Weekly Shonen Jump, and over the last year, its replacement has established itself as a strong series that will flourish for years to come.

While the likes of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen are over, new gen series are rising to the challenge in hopes of becoming Weekly Shonen Jump’s new pillar. Ichi the Witch is one such series with limitless potential that continues to hit new highs. Having begun serialization right after My Hero Academia’s conclusion, and being recommended by Horikoshi himself, the series was always bound to succeed. With just 6 volumes, and with no anime adaptation even close, Ichi the Witch has amassed 1.5 million copies in circulation. This new figure has once again highlighted how popular the manga is getting in Japan by the day.

Ichi the Witch Is Blowing Up As It Reaches 1.5 Million Copies In Circulation

Ichi the Witch 1.5 Million Copies

Ichi the Witch is a relatively new manga that began in September 2024, and is barely over a year old now. Currently, Ichi the Witch has 6 volumes, with the next one dropping in a few months. Despite being relatively new, Ichi the Witch is doing impressively well and gaining popularity with fans both in Japan, and even abroad.

The latest sales record for the manga once again goes to confirm that it is, indeed, blowing up in Japan. With just a couple of volumes, Ichi the Witch has 1.5 million copies in circulation now, up from 1.25 million just a few months ago. This number might seem small when compared to the likes of well-established series like MHA or JJK that have been out for years and have anime adaptations, but for a new manga, it’s actually quite high. Ichi the Witch is only going to grow as it consolidates itself as one of the main pillars of Weekly Shonen Jump.

Ichi The Witch ls The Perfect My Hero Academia Successor

Ichi the Witch’s manga began serialization at the perfect moment. In late 2024, two of Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest manga ended back-to-back, those being My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. With two monumental franchises ending, quite a huge gap was left behind. Whenever that happens, it opens up the perfect opportunity for new manga to distinguish themselves, and Ichi the Witch did just that. It is likely that Jump specifically planned its release at the time keeping in mind that MHA and JJK were ending.

Ichi the Witch seems to be the perfect replacement for My Hero Academia. After all, the manga was recommended to fans by MHA’s creator, Horikoshi, and definitely helped in popularizing it. Beyond that, the two series share similar themes, and fans of MHA have been loving it.

Ichi The Witch And Kagurabachi Are The Future Of Weekly Shonen Jump

Ichi The Witch Kagurabachi Weekly Shonen Jump

Ichi the Witch is just getting started, but it’s clear that it is being set up to become one of the new pillars of Weekly Shonen Jump. For now, it is one of two series that are being aggressively promoted by the magazine, with Kagurabachi being the other one. Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi are being promoted as a duo, and they even have an official duo name by the magazine, termed Ichikabachika.

Weekly Shonen Jump wouldn’t promote these two series as much as it is doing unless it saw huge potential. After all, it has quite a few other new-gen series it could’ve picked instead. A new era of Weekly Shonen Jump has begun, and at its helm will be One Piece, with two new pillars being Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi.
