My Hero Academia Is Off This Week; What’s Ahead for Season 7?

There's no new episode this week, so now's a great time to reflect on the first half of season 7, how it's held up, and what's to come.

With her frog-inspired abilities, unyielding spirit, and comic relief she brings from time to time, some fans say she might be the most beloved of all the female characters in the series. Froppy’s contributions to Class 1-A and the series as a whole make her an indispensable part of the My Hero Academia universe.

1 Strong Moral Compass

Inherently Good As A Person

  • Debut: Episode 5

Tsuyu Asui is a free person in every sense of the word. She speaks her mind freely and does not hold back on what she feels, which is one of the reasons for her great personality and moral compass, as she expects people to be straightforward like her.

She believes rules are not meant to be broken, as they are put in place to protect people, and that those who break the law are villains regardless of their motivation or reasons. This is most likely the reason why she set out to become a pro-hero, as she has not stated any other motivations for it.

2 Sense Of Responsibility

Good At Balancing Multiple Responsibilities

  • Joint Training Battle Round 1: Episodes 91–92

As a child, Tsuyu had no choice but to mature early to take care of her younger siblings because her parents were never around due to the nature of their jobs and busy schedules. This made her a responsible person quite early in life, as she had to balance school, maintain her home, and be responsible for her brothers without tipping the scales.

For this reason, she is capable of leading others and sometimes assumes a vital role in certain situations, as she demonstrated during the Joint Training Battle.

3 Made The Most Of Her Unusual Quirk

The Ultimate Role Player

  • Quirk Apprehension Test: Episodes 5 - 6

As most people would have guessed, the reason Tsuyu is called Froppy is because of her mutant class quirk, which gives her the physiology of a frog. In fact, she even stated that she can also bring out her guts to clean it the way a frog can. Compared to most other quirks in the series, this is on the lower end as she only ranked 13th in the Quirk Apprehension Test held by Aizawa, but it does not stop her from contributing to the good cause in the ways she can.

These interesting non-canon characters in My Hero Academia have enough going for them that serious consideration should be given to making them canon.

She also trained hard to improve her strength, speed, and other frog-like abilities, like camouflaging herself, so as not to become a burden to her friends in battle.

4 Excellent Judgment And Composure In Dire Situations

Can Keep Her Cool Even In Tough Situations

  • Hideout Raid Arc: Episodes 46 - 50

In the words of Recovery Girl, Tsuyu is “a perfect pillar of emotional support,” as she is excellent at keeping people at ease and making them feel safe, which is one of the best qualities an aspiring pro-hero should possess. She is calm and collected most of the time, and she manages to stay level-headed no matter the situation she finds herself in.

When the members of Class 1-A were plotting to go rescue Bakugo after he was kidnapped despite the Pro Heroes forbidding them from doing so, Tsuyu was one of the few people who spoke against such a mission being too dangerous for members of their class and that breaking the rules would also make them like the villains they wanted to oppose.

5 Pristine Character Development Despite Limited Screen Time

Matured As The Story Went On

  • Final War Arc: Episodes 143 - TBD

Tsuyu developed quite a lot as a person and as a hero throughout the series, even though her limited screen time does not do justice to it. Following Bakugo’s rescue, she came to realize her mistake, and this was more evident in the Final War as she conversed with Himiko Toga.

If You Could Choose One My Hero Academia Quirk to Have, Which Would You Pick?

There are so many unique and interesting Quirks in the world of My Hero Academia, but one that does fascinate me is Tamaki Amajiki's Manifest, which lets him manipulate his body into animal-like features, depending on the food he has recently consumed. As much as I'd love to take on this Quirk due to the sheer versatility and unlimited potential, I am way too picky with my food.... So in that case, I'd probably have to go with my backup choice, which is Reiko Yanagi's Poltergeist Quirk, as it is essentially a powerful Telekinesis ability that enables her to manipulate multiple objects at a time, by will.

Her beliefs became less rigid, and she realized life is not so black and white. She decided she would assist Ochaco in trying to reach out to Toga, even if it meant putting the rules aside.

6 Ability To Combine Well With Others In Battle

The Ultimate Support

  • Where Their Signature Move Occurred: Episode 68

As said earlier, Tsuyu’s quirk is far from the heavy hitters in the series, and as a result, she assumes a support role in most battles. She possesses a great sense of camaraderie, and the versatility of her quirk allows her to use her abilities in combination with whomever she is paired with at that point in time, no matter what quirk they might have.

In fact, one of her signature moves can only be done with Ochaco, where they combine to float stones and hurl them at their targets.

7 Highly Intelligent

Academically And Tactically Sound

  • U.S.J. Incident: Episodes 9 - 13

Despite her looks and mannerisms, Tsuyu is a very smart person who, despite all the responsibilities she had to shoulder early in life, was an honor student in middle school. This also translated to her high school education, as she placed sixth in the midterms. However, her intelligence is not only restricted to academics, as she has shown on several occasions that she can think up strategies on the fly, as shown during the First Term Final Exam and the first round of the Joint Training Battle.

Her intuition during the U.S.J. Incident was also spot on, as she was able to draw parallels between Midoriya and All Might’s quirks while also deducing that the League of Villains had come up with a way of going toe-to-toe with All Might.
