Above all, fans know that My Hero Academia has a lot more to offer, and the way that the author ended the story clearly leaves the door open for a sequel to happen at some point later down the line. At the moment, there is absolutely no confirmation of whether a sequel will happen in My Hero Academia or not. However, there are plenty of reasons why a sequel absolutely needs to happen in the story later down the line.

The Ending Of My Hero Academia Saw Deku Become A Hero Again

  • Deku Received A New Armor

My Hero Academia ended on quite a strange note. Fans saw some plotlines get wrapped up very well, such as the issues surrounding the Todoroki family, and at the same time, some others being rushed to the point where readers were left perplexed at how they concluded. While My Hero Academia did have a bunch of chapters to cover the epilogue of the story, it clearly wasn't enough. Quite a lot of the things in the epilogue simply didn't make sense, and many others felt incredibly rushed to the point where they just left the readers upset. At the end of My Hero Academia, fans got to see the members of class 1A finally graduate from UA. Then, there was an eight-year time skip in the story, following which Deku became a teacher at UA, and it was confirmed that he had lost the power of the One For All. His other friends had all gone on to become successful Pro Heroes, making a name for themselves along the way. This was quite saddening for the fans to see, and, at the same time, it was also confirmed that due to life being incredibly busy, Deku was not able to meet up with his friends often.

Clearly, this was not a good ending for the protagonist of the series and something incredibly underwhelming. However, the author then tried to fix this by giving Deku an armor and making him a hero without a Quirk. This armor was most likely very powerful, given that it was incredibly expensive, and took 8 years of research and more to make. Deku ended up becoming a hero once again, and went to save people along with his friends, which marked the official end of My Hero Academia. While this was certainly a tolerable end to the series, there are many plot points in the story that are still not fulfilled. At the same time, fans also know that the way the series ended leaves the door open for an even more exciting story to come in the future, and fans absolutely cannot wait for that to happen.

The Errors of The Ending Of My Hero Academia

There are quite a lot of things that My Hero Academia rushed into at the end of the story and that is precisely why a sequel needs to exist that fixes these issues. Of course, the author has not confirmed anything at this point, and as things stand, fans simply need to accept the ending that they got, but that doesn't mean that there are no issues with the way the story concluded. For one, fans know that Izuku Midoriya, who ended up becoming Quirkless at the end of the series, had the embers of the one for all. How these embers burned out was never really shown to the fans.

The One For All Dilemma Left The Fans Unsatisfied At The End

The story places an incredible amount of importance on the One For All. The embers of this power were the last remnants of everything that Deku had worked incredibly hard for. To not show them in the story in an effective manner was certainly a loose end and something that fans absolutely came to hate.

Perhaps, if there is a sequel to My Hero Academia, this problem can be fixed by either expanding upon the missing parts, or reintroducing the embers at a later point.

The Changes To Hero Society

The One For All was a big part of My Hero Academia, but it was not the only thing that needed fixing in the ending. Society changed tremendously at the end of My Hero Academia. The issues were heteromorphs were solved off-screen, and at the same time, millions were introduced to the hero rankings.

The relationship between civilians and heroes changed for the good, but none of this was actually covered in the story. A sequel to My Hero Academia would certainly remedy this as well.

Izuku And Ochaco's Relationship

Along with all the changes in society, fans also know that Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco's relationship was left untouched at the end of the story. After years upon years of investing in this relationship, not having the story deliver a proper conclusion to it was certainly a big mess and something that a sequel would need to fix.

A Proper Showing Of The Adult Heroes

At the end of My Hero Academia, fans never actually saw Deku live out his dream of becoming a pro hero, or become the greatest hero. The ending to the series was subpar in many ways, and Deku not being able to live out his dream is proof of that. A proper ending to My Hero Academia can be carried out in a sequel, where fans actually get to see pro hero Deku properly, and at the same time, other powerful Pro Heroes who graduated from class 1A as well.

What The Sequel Could Focus On

Above everything, fans know that there are many plot points that were completely abandoned at the end of the story and quite simply the biggest of them all is the Quirk Singularity or the Quirk Doomsday Theory. As stated by Dr Kyudai, Quirks continue to grow stronger with each passing generation. The human body can only adapt so much, and eventually, there will come a time when humans cannot adapt to growing quirks and will get either overwhelmed by them, or completely destroyed. This would make for a perfect premise for the future of the story and is something that fans need to see get explained properly. In fact, many fans hoped for this to be the main plot point towards the end of My Hero Academia to be tackled, and the fact that it wasn't left them confused. If My Hero Academia were to ever get a sequel, the Quirk Doomsday Theory would be the perfect story to base it on.

My Hero Academia is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the final chapter of My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia chapter 430, was August 4, 2024.
