  • The Embers of One For All Burned Out, Leaving Deku Quirkless

My Hero Academia’s Final War arc was quite intense and fans got to see Deku, the protagonist of the series, fight to his utmost best against Shigaraki Tomura and All For One. While Deku succeeded in winning the war for the Heroes, it didn't come without a price. In order to win the war, Deku had to give up the One For All Quirk, which officially made him the last user of the power.

Horikoshi made it quite clear to the fans that Deku still had embers of the power inside him, but eventually, they ran out as well, and he became quirkless. While the One For All is gone for now, it could eventually return in the story in one way or another, especially if Horikoshi wants to continue the story later down the line.

How Deku Lost One For All

  • Deku Gave Up The One For All To Beat Shigaraki And All For One
  • The Embers Burned Out

The Final War of My Hero Academia was absolutely sensational and, as expected, Deku had a huge role to play. He was always destined to fight against Shigaraki Tomura and the two traded blows in a very intense battle upon which the fate of all Japan and the world rested. Eventually, Deku managed to win, but to do so, he had to sacrifice One For All. One by one, Deku had to transfer the vestiges inside Shigaraki through the only crack he could find and beat him from the inside. Deku accessed his memories and eventually defeated him after All For One took over. With everyone's help, Deku was able to win and fans know that he was still left with the embers of the power after.

Some years later, the embers of One For All burned out and Deku was left quirkless. After his graduation, Deku went on to teach at UA, and eventually, he got access to a high-level armor which allowed him to be a Hero once again.

Why One For All Might Return In MHA

The Quirk Might Develop in Deku's Child

It is a known fact that sometimes, children get the same quirk as their parents in MHA. For instance, Mirio has access to permeation, and this very quirk was used by his father as well. Similarly, Shoto Todoroki’s mother has the Frost quirk, but she isn't the only one with it. Quirks can be inherited sometimes. Now, One For All is a unique case and no offspring of a former vestige has seen an offspring with the power. But, things are different with Deku.

It is only through Deku that the One For All unlocked its full potential. In some way, his body could've memorized the power of the Quirk, and if a child were to have a quirk, perhaps it could be something similar to the One For All.

That's not to say that the child would have the One For All's exact copy. After all the quirk is simply a power stockpiling ability mixed with an ability to pass down. If Deku's Child has access to a similar ability, it will likely allow them to stockpile strength and then use it similarly to the One For All in a rudimentary form. Of course, for that to happen, Deku has to have kids first and MHA has to get some continuation.

Will My Hero Academia Ever Continue?

At this point, it is highly unlikely that My Hero Academia will continue. But, in the future, if the author ever wants to continue the series, the One For All could be potentially brought back through another user.
