All Might’s Role In My Hero Academia Previously

All Might was Japan’s Number 1 Hero For a While

All Might was always one of the most central characters of the My Hero Academia story, and he is widely beloved by fans. Being Deku’s inspiration in the story, he was a hero who gave everyone around him hope and made Japan feel safe. For a good chunk of the story, All Might was Japan’s Number 1 Hero. All Might made the power of One For All his and became the strongest of all time, until he passed on his Quirk to Deku, making him the second last user of the Quirk.

For a while, All Might was unable to fight due to his quirkless state, but he did make a comeback in the Final War arc of the series, where he ended up fighting against All For One using his brand new Hero Suit, developed by Melissa Shield.

In the fanbook, Horikoshi clearly reveals that All Might’s current role is serving as UA’s Vice Principal, which is a very fitting role for a retired hero. As the Vice Principal, he can continue looking over the future generation of Heroes, which is the most he can do right now, given that he is in no shape to fight anymore. This is definitely the perfect ending for him.
