While the manga for My Hero Academia concluded last year, the anime is still releasing the last bit of content in MHA’s final season. Regardless, My Hero Academia will be officially over soon. With the end of the series, a big project in the form of a popularity poll came along. This poll was held worldwide, and fans could vote for their favorite MHA characters over a specific period of time. The results of the poll revealed a significant fact about the popularity of MHA characters. Bakugo is, by far, the most beloved MHA character, and he has officially beaten Deku in nearly every popularity poll, except the very first one, when fans were just getting familiar with the characters. Bakugo has truly become the face of the series.

Bakugo Has Beaten Izuku Midoriya In The MHA Popularity Poll

  • Izuku Midoriya Finished Second

Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, is My Hero Academia’s protagonist. The entire story revolves around Deku and his drive to become a great hero. Typically the protagonist of a series is the most popular character, but this isn’t the case for MHA. In the most recent popularity poll for MHA, which saw fans voting online from all over the world to commemorate the ending of the manga, Deku was not the most popular character. Instead, the title of MHA’s most popular character went to Katsuki Bakugo, Deku’s biggest rival.

The gap between the two isn’t small either. Bakugo amassed a total of 1,647,611 votes globally, while Deku managed to get 1,217,357. That is a difference of over 400k votes. Nevertheless, Izuku Midoriya was still second overall, which is quite impressive, especially when compared to the number amassed by the third character, Shoto Todoroki, which was half of his, with 630,398 votes. Izuku and Bakugo both stand as the faces of MHA and prove to be the most popular characters the series has to offer, by far.

Bakugo Has Won All Polls Except The First One

While some fans might have been surprised to see Bakugo take the crown as MHA’s most popular character over the protagonist, it was expected. Deku has never really been MHA’s number one character in popularity, and this can be seen in past popularity polls. In almost all MHA popularity polls, Bakugo was the winner. The only poll where Deku beat Bakugo was the very first one. After all, back then, fans weren’t familiar with the characters properly and Bakugo had yet to get the development he later received. Bakugo is the true king of My Hero Academia, by the looks of it.
