This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia is one Shonen series where the author isn't afraid to delve into romance plotlines, and for the most part, it can be said that he has done a decent job. My Hero Academia is primarily focused on Heroes saving people with a smile on their faces and fighting against the villains. That said, a story where kids in school are the primary focus can't really exist without some element of romance, or else it wouldn't be realistic. The author, Kohei Horikoshi, realized this and that's precisely why there was some romance in the story right from the beginning.

As is quite clear already, it sad the couple of Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka. This couple was teased multiple times by Horikoshi himself, and in My Hero Academia chapter 431, he took things one step further and made things official. While there The plenty of unofficial couples in My Hero Academia, Horikoshi has, at the very least, decided to make this one canon, and it has excited a ton of fans already.

In My Hero Academia's Final stretch, specifically after the conclusion of the Final War, fans were given a particular scene where Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka conversed and unburdened themselves to each other. While this scene was great to see, it didn't go where fans wanted it to be.

The two extended a hand of friendship to each other and offered great support, but that was all there was to it. Thankfully, Kohei Horikoshi, the author of the series, didn't stop there. Horikoshi reorganized the thoughts in his head and gave the fans one more exciting development in the relationship between Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka.

This came about in My Hero Academia Chapter 431, which was a one-shot chapter that Horikoshi dropped with the final volume as a bonus for the fans. In it, Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka officially came close to each other, and at the end of it all, Izuku specifically made clear that Ochaco Uraraka mattered to him more than others, and that he wanted their relationship to move to the next level, something that Ochaco gladly agreed with. The author handled their relationship tastefully, and it goes without saying that at the end of it all, he officially confirmed the birth of the biggest canon couple in the entirety of My Hero Academia. Here's what Horikoshi had to say about it:

Horikoshi: Instead of wanting to portray romance in the story, I just wanted to show the contrast between Ochako and Toga with their views on love. Since romance is a very strong stimulus, as soon as you include it in the story, that's all anyone is going to talk about, so I deliberately avoided adding it to the story.

However, since the setting of the series is at school after all, it would be rather dishonest to completely ignore romance, so it was pretty hard to think of a balance. Thankfully, since Deku was always doing other things, he was unaware of any romantic feelings, and it turned out to be a good thing for me [since Horikoshi didn't want to include romance in the main plot].

However, when Chapter 394 came around, the topics [discussed by Toga and Ochako] did touch upon that stimulus called love, so I knew that it would be strange not to follow up on that point later in the story, which is why I chose to write about it.

I never thought that romance would go well with the theme of the story of My Hero Academia, which is "to save and be saved," nor would it make sense to include it in "the story of how we all became Heroes." So that's why I decided to touch upon it in an epilogue, like a postscript of sorts.

However, rather than depicting romance itself, I wanted to depict love in a form as part of something even greater, but I wonder how it turned out?

While it was great for the fans to see more of Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia Chapter 431, they only for to see how these two ended up together after all the years of buildup. Unfortunately, since then, fans haven't seen much of them at all, as My Hero Academia has officially concluded. Still, fans hope that Horikoshi will, at some point, turn his attention to the manga and give the fans some one-shots to get excited about. It is also possible for Horikoshi to collaborate with Studio Bones for a sequel movie, and that too would make things all the more exciting for all the fans of the series.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
