This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Shonen Jump took an absolutely massive hit last year, when two of the biggest series featured in it wrapped up. Alongside One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen stood as the pillars of Shonen Jump, and the fact that both of them wrapped up at the same time meant that it was the beginning of a very difficult time for the magazine. Recovering from such a massive loss isn't easy, but it seems that Jump has already found the official replacements for these two series.
In fact, both of these series have officially been backed by the mangaka of My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi, and even Eiichiro Oda, One Piece's mangaka, recently stated that Jump needs three big pillars to maintain its popularity. One Piece is eternal and will continue to be there for quite a while. Alongside it, however, there are two new series that fans should turn their attention to, and they're Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi.
Shonen Jump Has Two Big Replacements For My Hero Academia And Jujutsu Kaisen
Ichi The Witch and Kagurabachi Are The Two New Pillars
- A new era has begun in Jump
- Horikoshi has officially backed both Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi
When My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen ended, fans were worried for the state of Jump, and rightly so. The magazine was losing one hit series after another and two of the most amazing series leaving it meant that it was in deep trouble. But, the end of two of the biggest Jump manga ended up as an opportunity for new authors to step out into the light and make a name for themselves. That's precisely what happened with Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch.

Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game Movie Global Release Dates Officially Revealed
Jujutsu Kaisen Executioner finally has an international release date. The US release date, among others, has been revealed.
Kagurabachi started in the Summer of 2024 and while it didn't appear to be particularly appealing at first, the series shot up in popularity soon and has, since then, continued to gain a massive fanbase. Kagurabachi is one of the biggest Jump manga right now.
Meanwhile, Ichi the Witch started just as My Hero Academia ended, and it was compelling right from the very first chapter. The series continues to dazzle fans even today, and it is only a matter of time before it gains a massive boost in popularity. Both Itchi the Witch and Kagurabachi were officially recommended by Kohei Horikoshi. Recently, Horikoshi even conducted an interview with Hokazono, and it was also revealed that he personally oversaw the storyboard of the first chapter of Kagurabachi. Undoubtedly, Horikoshi has handpicked these two series as the next pillars of Jump.
Kagurabachi Is Getting An Anime Soon
A Web Domain Has Already Been Registered
While already popular, Kagurabachi is most certainly going to blow up soon. This is because the series is getting an anime adaptation soon and that's only going to serve to boost its sales even more. Meanwhile, Ichi the Witch doesn't have any anime in the works yet, but fans know for sure that once it edges closer to 100 chapters, an anime adaptation will most likely have been announced. It is only a matter of time before these two series step up as the next gen hits and take the anime and manga world by storm.
Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch will both release new chapters this week. As usual, both chapters are going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, Jump drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on October 12. The official release date of Kagurabachi Chapter 97 and Ichi the Witch Chapter 54 is October 12, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
