This article contains spoilers for the My Hero Academia series.
The 2010s was a massive decade for Weekly Shonen Jump. With the likes of Naruto and Bleach ending, big spots opened up for new series to rise. Among the new series that popped up after, My Hero Academia stood out the most. The My Hero Academia manga started in 2014, and it has been an iconic series ever since. Sadly, however, the MHA manga ended last year, in 2024. The anime for MHA is now following suit, and it will finally end in December 2025.
After 8 Years, Izuku Midoriya Finally Unlocks New Powers In My Hero Academia
Deku became quirkless and lost his powers. Horikosho, however, gives him new powers in MHA.
My Hero Academia Season 8 is the last season of the series, and it will mark the end of the original story. My Hero Academia Season 8’s final episode will air on December 13, so fans should be ready to bid farewell to their favorite characters. Of course, while the original manga and anime are over, fans can still look forward to the Vigilantes series, as well as the Netflix live-action movie.
My Hero Academia Season 8 Is Ending On December 13
2025 gave the fans quite a lot of absolutely incredible anime series. At the beginning of this year, Solo Leveling and The Apothecary Diaries took the spotlight, while in the summer, Takopi’s Original Sin and Gachiakuta were huge highlights. Now, My Hero Academia Season 8 is shining incredibly bright.
My Hero Academia Season 8 has been sensational so far. All the episodes are highly rated by the fans, and it is quite clear to see that the series is being done justice by Studio Bones. Sadly, however, this season is almost over. As fans know, MHA Season 8 is going to be short, with just 11 episodes, and one OVA, making it the shortest MHA season ever. The final episode of My Hero Academia Season 8 is scheduled to air on December 13, 2025.
My Hero Academia Season 8 Marks The End Of The Series
My Hero Academia Season 8 is officially going to be the final season of the franchise. This is both exciting and sad for fans who want to see some of the best moments of the manga being brought to life. But at the same time, fans will also have to accept the reality that Deku and the other Heroes won't return anymore.
Say Hello To The Two Official Next Gen Replacements Of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen
MHA and JJK have ended, and they each have a new successor lined up.
With the manga having ended last year, and with Horikoshi planning a new series, it seems that this is the end for the original story of My Hero Academia. Fans will have to accept the reality and say their farewells to their favorite series this December.
My Hero Academia’s Prequel Will Continue
The My Hero Academia manga has ended, and the anime will follow suit this month, but this doesn’t mean the entire My Hero Academia franchise is dead. Indeed, fans can still look forward to side projects.
While these projects aren't as exciting as the original series, things like My Hero Academia Vigilantes Season 2 will surely keep the memory of the story established by Horikoshi alive.
With its new cast of characters as well as some familiar faces, My Hero Academia Vigilantes has been well-received by fans. Fans can’t wait to see where the story goes in Season 2, and hopefully, the spin-off gets even more seasons in the future.
Vigilantes is actually not the only project ahead for MHA. Indeed, MHA also has a live-action movie adaptation in the works by Netflix. Live-action series based on anime are quite controversial, but seeing Netflix’s current track record with One Piece’s live-action, it might not be all that bad, after all. Horikoshi, the original creator of MHA, is also deeply involved in the project, which is a good sign for the production. The movie is still in early phases of production, so fans shouldn’t expect to see it released anytime before 2027.
The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. My Hero Academia is also airing its final season, which will consist of 11 episodes in total. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.
