  • My Hero Academia manga ended with an altered conclusion, showing Midoriya and Ochako together.
  • Fans outraged by the new ending mass blocked Horikoshi Kohei on social media.
  • Despite the backlash, My Hero Academia's success will inspire new manga and upcoming releases in 2025.

My Hero Academia manga came to an end earlier this year, bringing an end to almost a decade's worth of fun. Initially, fans were happy with the conclusion. Shortly after the release of the final chapter, My Hero Academia released volume 42.

Before the volume's release, it was confirmed that it would have additional pages that would expand the story's conclusion. When the volume was finally available for purchase, fans were able to read the extra content. Upon reading, they learned how Horikoshi Kohei had altered the story's conclusion. He made it clear that Midoriya and Ochako ended up together. This sparked an outrage within the My Hero Academia fan community.

Despite its godly status, New Order is laced with limitations. Here's a closer look at these detrimental drawbacks.

Fans being upset over character relationships is nothing new. Every major anime and manga fandom has expectations for certain characters, and it causes problems when they are not met. Something similar happened with My Hero Academia fans and Horikoshi Kohei. For one reason or another, they did not like the new ending. So, they expressed their anger by going to X (formerly Twitter) and mass blocking Horikoshi Kohei's account.

Some fans took things too far and wrote distasteful things about the author. This incident proved why manga authors tend to stay away from social networking sites. While fans are entitled to their opinions, going after authors is not the way to handle things. It is important to remember manga authors have a particular ending in mind while writing the manga, and they tend to follow that. Naturally, it won't appeal to everyone's taste.

  • Sold over 100 million copies
  • Many movies and spin-offs to its name

Horikoshi Kohei started working on My Hero Academia in July 2014, and it continued to run until August 2024. My Hero Academia has also sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and there are only a handful of other titles that have sold more. While the manga has ended, the anime still has one season remaining, and it will air sometime in 2025.

There is a small chance that the next season of My Hero Academia will have any major changes to the staff and the cast. The staff working on the series has done a spectacular job, so there is little to no reason to make any alterations.

My Hero Academia fans can also look forward to the release of a new artbook and a fanbook, both of which are set to be released in 2025.

My Hero Academia is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
