My Hero Academia is considered to be one of the most beloved and recognizable anime and manga series ever. The manga for My Hero Academia ended in 2024, and the last thing fans were holding onto, the anime, has also just wrapped up. Many fans, however, aren’t ready to part ways with this series. Of course, My Hero Academia isn’t completely over, as fans still have some other projects, like Vigilantes. That said, Vigilantes won't last long, and a long-term replacement is definitely needed.

Fans should instead look forward to a new series that could be said to be the heir to Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia. This heir is none other than Ichi The Witch, Shonen Jump’s rising story that could get an anime adaptation in the next 2 years or so.

Ichi The Witch Is My Hero Academia’s Heir

My Hero Academia, over its decade-long run, became one of Shonen Jump’s most successful series ever. For a while, it could even be said to be a pillar of Shonen Jump. Its conclusion, alongside JJK in 2024, left a huge gap to fill, and the anime’s conclusion was recently saddening for fans of the series all over again.

Nevertheless, Horikoshi himself might have already found the perfect new series for fans to check out, and that's Ichi the Witch.

Ichi the Witch is a story that kick-started right after MHA ended, and it’s definitely worth checking out, especially now that the My Hero Academia anime has ended. Horikoshi himself has already recommended fans to read the manga, and it could even be said that Horikoshi helped the manga blow up. In the absence of new anime content for My Hero Academia, perhaps fans should check out a story that Horikoshi himself seems to enjoy.

While Ichi the Witch and My Hero Academia have some differences, they both carry a similar air that fans of MHA will love to explore, along with a somewhat similar power system.

At the moment, Ichi the Witch doesn't have an anime adaptation. After all, the story just started in late 2024, and as such, it doesn’t have enough chapters to justify getting an anime yet.

However, the series is still greatly successful, and it’s clear Weekly Shonen Jump is pushing strongly for it to grow in place of series that have ended, like JJK or MHA.

With great sales and support from the Magazine, this manga will get an adaptation very quickly, and that goes without saying. Ichi the Witch could be adapted into an anime in the next two years.

Nothing will ever truly come to replace My Hero Academia. Horikoshi has shaped a unique world with interesting characters and a great power system. While the manga and anime of the original series are both over, that doesn’t mean MHA, as a franchise, is done for.

My Hero Academia fans still have some other projects to look forward to. For one, Vigilantes Season 2 is coming very soon, in January 2026, and fans are very excited.

Vigilantes aside, there’s also the Live Action by Netflix. Not everyone is excited for this project, but fans should, at least, give it a shot and see how it turns out.

Of course, fans also have Jump Festa 2026 to look forward to, which could potentially reveal a big MHA project, such as a new movie.

My Hero Academia is a story of Heroes in a world where special powers, called Quirks, are bestowed upon people at birth. In a world where Heroes and villains fight, Deku aims to become the greatest Hero of all time like his idol, All Might. The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. My Hero Academia is also airing its final season, which will consist of 11 episodes in total. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.
