Considering Quirks refers to the primary abilities that heroes and villains rely on in My Hero Academia, most of them appear throughout the story at least more than once. In fact, some of the more powerful Quirks are thrown out all the time to help the user get an advantage over their opponent in an intense fight, but some, whether it's because they are unfit for combat, or simply due to their wielder being taken down early in the story, are only shown off a single time.

This doesn't necessarily mean that these Quirks are inherently weak, just that they clearly aren't as reliable or effective as many others, which can be used on a more consistent basis. With that being said, these are some of the very best Quirks in My Hero Academia, which fans are only ever given a small glimpse at before they're gone for good.

6 Telescopic
Good For Survivability, But Ultimately Useless In Combat

Tatami uses her Telescopic Quirk very early on in the series to avoid one of Tokoyami's shadow attacks, and while it's definitely on the weirder side, it's honestly not all that useful of an ability when compared to many others. The way it works is, Tatami is able to retract her limbs into her body, kind of like a turtle retreating into its shell.
This allows her to avoid incoming projectiles and otherwise life-threatening attacks, especially since she can change her size incredibly quickly without much of a startup. Tatami is a character who's easy to forget about, and her Quirk is only seen once in the entire series, but it's still a fun ability nonetheless.
5 Good Ear
Extracting Information Is Easy For Sirius Thanks To Her Good Ear

As the name implies, Good Ear is an ability which greatly enhances the user's hearing, allowing them to pick up on discussions and determine how many people are nearby, just by listening out for any noises being made. Sirius deploys this Quirk very briefly during the Stain arc, but she doesn't use it ever again after that incident.

The primary reason for this is simply because of how situational Good Ear is. Since using it will keep the user defenseless, and may even backfire on them if the target is aware of how it works, it makes it difficult to use in practice and not all that reliable. Still, when it comes to extracting information as part of an infiltration mission, it can be very handy to have on standby.
4 Outburst
Making People Laugh Uncontrollably Is A Very Situational Quirk

Ms. Joke is a rather odd character in the series. Despite being a Pro-Hero, she only shows up in the story very briefly, meaning outside of her close relationship with Aizawa, barely anything is known about the plucky teacher. With that being said though, her Quirk ability, Outburst, is shown in action a single time before disappearing for good.
Ms. Joke is able to cause a person to burst into laughter seemingly out of nowhere, leaving them completely defenseless and vulnerable. Though there's no doubt Ms. Joke has cooked up many creative attacks and techniques with this Quirk, fans can only wonder what they would have looked like.
3 Whiteline
Endeavor's Obsessed Fan Left The Story Just Moments After He Debuts

Ending is a villain who randomly intercepts Endeavor and his three students during the Endeavor Agency arc. His goal, in his own words, is to bring back Endeavor to his ruthless era, reverting him to the cold and merciless Pro Hero that he once was until he started showing more compassion with age.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes - 7 Things Koichi Can Do That Deku Can't
For various reasons, there are just certain things that Koichi can do that Deku can't in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
During Ending's brief skirmish with the main trio, he uses his Whiteline Quirk to trap and confuse his enemies. He is able to manipulate the white lines on the road in any way he wants, though they tend to work best for wrapping up and immobilizing his enemies. Ending would be sent to prison right after this, meaning fans never get to see this rather odd but strong Quirk in action ever again.
2 Landmine
Curious Can Cover Her Tracks By Dropping A Few Explosive Devices

Curious is one of the rare characters in the series where their Quirk doesn't exactly suit the user all that well. Since Curious is a journalist, having an ability that can pry the truth out of someone, such as Makoto's Polygraph seen in Vigilantes, would have been perfect. Instead, she possesses the Landmine Quirk, allowing her to cover a battlefield with explosive devices to blow her opponents sky-high.
This is something she demonstrates in her fight against Toga, where she's able to use her mines to dish out some serious damage, without needing to put herself in danger. This fight doesn't exactly go all that well for Curious, taking her out of the story entirely, but she clearly could have caused a ton of chaos if Toga hadn't put an end to her.
1 Barrier
One Of The Best Defensive Quirks In The Series Is Owned By One Of Overhaul's Loyal Thugs

When Fat Gum, Red Riot, and the rest of the heroes launch a full-scale invasion of Overhaul's hideout, they come across many of his goons, who all have pretty bizarre but powerful Quirks up their sleeves. One example of this is former monk Hekiji Tengai, who is able to deploy a small but durable barrier to protect his allies.
As Fat Gum comments, this wall feels as sturdy as a steel wall, making it almost impossible to break through. There's no doubt Barrier is one of the best defensive Quirks in the series, but because Tengai, along with the rest of Overhaul's posse, are eventually defeated and taken into custody, it would only be used once in the series.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
