  • Overhaul uses loyal servants as tools, transforming into a multi-limbed beast.
  • Overhaul has a complicated relationship with the Yakuza, obsessing over organization and planning.

While the My Hero Academia series is packed full of unique and memorable villains, a fan favorite who had a pretty drastic impact on the story was Kai Chisaki, more commonly known as Overhaul. This young and dangerous Yakuza leader pushed Deku to his absolute limit when the two faced off against one another over Eri, but while Overhaul has proven himself to be a formidable fighter, he's also a villain who has been gifted with the gift of the gab too, having made plenty of memorable speeches in the story.

Despite only being a major threat for a single arc, Overhaul still managed to get across his evil master plan, his obsessive personality, and his ruthlessness all within a very short space of time. Needless to say, he's certainly made his mark on the series, so it's time to look at the most memorable and impactful quotes that have come from the mouth, or beak, of this villainous member of the Yakuza.

1 "She...Does Not Want Your Help"

Overhaul's Manipulation Over Eri Exposes Its Ugly Head During His Confrontation With Deku

When Overhaul and Eri are first introduced in the series, it's implied they are father and daughter, but the only reason fans are left to assume that is because that's what Overhaul himself claims is the truth. In reality, Overhaul is actually Eri's uncle who was using the young girl's Rewind Quirk for his selfish schemes.

Overhaul couldn't stand anyone getting even close to Eri, so when she does finally decide to be saved by Deku, Overhaul says this sinister line to try and convince her to come back. Despite Overhaul implying here he knows exactly what Eri would want, that couldn't be any further from the truth, as she clearly wanted to escape his abuse to live a happy life.

2 "All Of Them, Sick With Hero Syndrome"

Chisaki Sees Heroes As An Infection That Must Be Exterminated

All the villains in My Hero Academia view the heroes through a different lens. Stain, for example, saw many heroes as little more than selfish money-hungry activists who don't truly care about bettering society, but in the case of Overhaul, he views heroes as victims of an "infection" who are needlessly throwing their lives away.

This specific quote is the very first time Overhaul provides fans with a glimpse into his maniacal mindset, and his twisted outlook on the world. It also demonstrates just how two-faced Hisaki really is that he can say this just moments after putting on a happy face while interacting with Deku and Mirio.

3 "I'm Out To Cure People Like You, With Eri's Power"

Overhaul Views Himself As Some Kind Of Sadistic Savior Of Humanity

The fact Overhaul can speak this way to Mirio, one of the strongest heroes in the series, directly to his face, shows just how assured he is that his grand plan of cleaning the world of Quirks is the right thing. This quote specifically implies that Overhaul sees himself as a savior who is out to "cure" the poor heroes while remaining completely ignorant of his own evil actions.

This would also be a subtle indication as to what Eri's Quirk could be before it was officially revealed, with many fans wondering how the young girl's ability could affect a person's body and Quirk. This quote provides a dark and sinister look into the mind of one of the series' most dangerous villains.

4 "You're Willing To Die For Me, Right?"

Chisaki Isn't Shy About Using His Loyal Servants As Tools

When Deku and the other heroes launch the mission to apprehend Overhaul, they soon realize they'll also need to deal with his dangerous lackeys known as the Eight Bullets. By far the most important member is Shin Nemoto, a die-hard servant who Overhaul is more than happy to utilize as a last resort during his fight against Deku.

After asking an unconscious Nemoto whether he's willing to die for him or not, Overhaul then consumes his fallen comrade to transform into a giant multi-limbed beast which Midoriya struggles to take down. These were the fatal last words before Chisaki would unleash his devastating final form during the epic battle.

5 "I'm A Clean Freak. When Someone Touches Me, I Lose It"

Chisaki Explains His Unusual Look Which References Plague Doctors

By far the most noticeable aspect of Overhaul's unique design is the long beak that he can almost always be seen wearing. Though some fans theorized this was simply a quirky piece of gear that could help Overhaul's appearance stand out, it's soon revealed he is actually a "clean freak," which feeds into his ideology of the world being infected by Quirks.

The fact he mentions that he "loses it" any time someone tries to get close to him also highlights just how isolated Overhaul is, preferring to keep even his most loyal allies at arm's length to avoid getting dirty. With a single line, Overhaul explains the reason for his quirky appearance, alongside his pessimistic view of the world.

6 "Like I Said, I Abandoned That Name"

Chisaki References His Complicated Relationship With The Yakuza

Overhaul has a pretty complicated relationship with the Yakuza, and more specifically, the boss who took him in. Though Overhaul has always been grateful for the boss' hospitality, he also resents the old man's way of thinking. As a result, Chisaki decided to put his boss into a coma, only to then don the Overhaul persona which would become his moniker while carrying out his master plan.

As a result, while he still wants to repay the debt he owes to the boss, he has also become so fixated with his new identity that he gets incredibly frustrated whenever someone calls him by his actual name. This is a mistake both Mirio and Deku would make when they eventually came face to face with the man himself.

7 "A Goal With No Plan Is Called A Delusion. You Need A Plan In Order To Achieve Your Goal"

Overhaul Has An Unhealthy Obsession With Organization And Planning

When the League of Villains tries to recruit Overhaul into their ranks, it doesn't exactly go as they would have hoped. Not only does the Yakuza member flat out refuse their offer, but he also criticizes their planning and organization skills, calling a goal without any sort of plan a "delusion."

This single quote says a lot about Overhaul's personality, particularly how cunning and calculated a villain he is. Overhaul always tries to be one step ahead of the enemy, and likes to present himself as a strategic mastermind who loves belittling his enemies while also boasting of his strengths in the process.

8 "What I'm Annihilating Is The World Itself. Its Very Structure"

A Harrowing Proclamation That Shows Just How Sick And Twisted Overhaul Is

Since Overhaul views Quirks as a "sickness" that has infested the entire world, his grand plan is to eliminate quirks completely, returning the world to its "natural" state as a result. However, his attempts to try and enact this plan lead him down a very dark road, and as this quote goes to show, the Yakuza boss becomes completely obsessed with destroying the central pillars of society, no matter how many lives must be sacrificed in the process.

What makes this quote all the more impactful is it comes after Overhaul already showcases his Quirk-eliminating technology after stealing Mirio's Quirk when he tried to protect Eri, making this statement scarily believable and realistic thanks to his newly established weapon.
