With the first season of My Dress-Up Darling airing back in Winter of 2022, it is safe to say that the anime adaptation quickly gained a lot of popularity. This popularity continued well into the airing of the second season as well, which wrapped up on October 5, 2025. The anime revolves around Wakana Gojo and his relationship with Marin Kitagawa. Wakana is interested in becoming a doll-artisan, while Marin regularly enjoys cosplay — which brings the two together.

While there seemed to be plans for a third season, there has been new information revealed that might make fans disappointed. Though there is still a chance that a third season of My Dress-Up Darling will proceed, it might not be as soon as viewers would like.

In an interview with Anime! Anime!, a few different members of the production staff gave insight on the third season of My Dress-Up Darling. In this interview, they discussed the work that went into making the second season of the anime, including the number of staff members working on the production, how they created each plot line, and much more.

Along with this, the interviewer had a chance to get a small glimpse into the possibility of a third season. However, this is what Shota Umehara, a member of the production desk, had to say:

The production is completely blank, but I would like to make it again when everything is in order. You can't make sloppy animations. I would like to express my gratitude to the viewers. — Shota Umehara

Though this may seem disappointing to fans, it doesn't necessarily mean that the anime following Marin and Wakana will never return for a third season. Likely, this means that the cards are still on the table, but the production team will first need to gauge the interest properly, and work towards financing the third season.

While this interview confirms that there is nothing currently in the works for a third season, there's still a chance that it could go into development in the future. In this interview, as well, Shota Umehara mentioned the following:

Also, the work will not develop unless there are more new viewers, so I would be very happy if someone watched the anime or bought the original work after Season 2. — Shota Umehara

This comment might not confirm anything about the future of My Dress-Up Darling, but it certainly implies that if the second season gains a bit more interest and more fans become interested in the manga as well, a future third season could likely begin development.

Though nothing is officially confirmed, as long as fans of My Dress-Up Darling continue to show their love and support, there's still a chance that a third season will arrive for viewers down the road.
