A new teaser for My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) has been unveiled, and the video finally reveals the release date for My Dress-Up Darling Season 2, scheduled for July. The anime was a huge hit when the first season aired in 2022, and fans have been waiting for the series to continue ever since.

The series was nominated in several categories at the 7th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where voters picked the best series of 2022, but, unfortunately, it didn't win any of them. Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, and Spy x Family swept many of the awards that year, while Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners won anime of the year.

Each main character in My Dress-Up Darlinghave their own issues with social anxiety, dealing with them in unique ways.

When Will My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Be Released?

The new trailer is actually a promotional video that is probably running on Japanese TV right now. It reveals that the second season of My-Dress Up Darling will be released on July 5, 2025. Season 2 features a returning main staff, with Keisuke Shinohara is directing the series once again and Yoriko Tomita credited as the head writer. The main cast is reprising their roles as well, including:

  • Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa
  • Shoya Ishige as Wakana Gojo

The first season covered the main story from chapters 1 to 39, but it skipped many parts of the manga, including scenes with Usami, a fairly popular side character who works as a store clerk at a fabric shop. Usami was introduced in chapter 24 of the manga but has yet to appear in the anime.

The My Dress-Up Darling manga concluded a few months ago, but most readers didn't like the way the story ended. Many felt that the ending was rushed — the manga had gone through a few hiatuses, leading fans to believe that the author, Shinichi Fukuda, was having trouble with the serialization due to health issues she had been having for the past few years. The manga ran for 115 chapters, totaling 14 volumes.

Where to Watch My Dress-Up Darling?

The first season is available on Crunchyroll with English subtitles and dubs (as well as in other languages). The streaming service has already confirmed that it will stream My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 as it airs in Japan — fans expect an English dub to follow. Since Netflix Asia streams many major anime series, the new season will probably be available on Netflix in select Asian countries.

There's no official word, but fans expect the new season to run for a single cour (about 12 episodes). Assuming it follows the same pacing as the first season, it should cover from the Shizuku Kuroe Part 2 Arc to the Coffin Arc.

My Dress-Up Darling's original manga is published in the US by the editorial branch of Square Enix.
