During EVO 2024, MultiVersus officially revealed Season 2: Back in Time, which is coming out on July 23. This season will be the debut of MultiVersus' long-awaited Ranked Mode, where players can compete in 1v1 and 2v2 matches to claim leaderboard points that can unlock exclusive rank-based rewards. It will also release a new Water Tower map, which is inspired by the iconic water tower at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, California.
With the second season playing on the theme of time, MultiVersus is also debuting two new nostalgic characters: Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice. MultiVersus players can utilize Samurai Jack's mystical katana and quick reflexes to send their opponents flying off the map. Samurai Jack is also classified as a Bruiser. Samurai Jack will also have an alternate skin called Righteous Warrior Jack, which will be available for purchase once Season 2 launches. On the other hand, Beetlejuice, who is a fearsome and entertaining character that debuted in the '80s, was teased during this year's EVO, but his combat class hasn't been revealed yet.
New MultiVersus Characters Coming in Season 2
- Samurai Jack (Bruiser)
- Beetlejuice (class unknown)
Many MultiVersus fans are excited about experiencing both Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice in the next season. Some also requested for Samurai Jack's Scotsman or Aku to be added to the game next, while others said they're excited to see Beetlejuice and Joker face off. Meanwhile, eagle-eyed players also spotted Yakko seemingly being teased in Samurai Jack's gameplay trailer, which could mean that MultiVersus might finally add Animaniacs characters.
The second season of MultiVersus definitely shows that the platform fighter is eager to introduce fresh, new content and characters that fans can engage with after its long hiatus. With Warner Bros. Having a diverse collection of franchises, Player First Games definitely has a lot of material to pull from to sustain the game and keep avid players interested. Hopefully, MultiVersus manages to add more beloved characters in the future to appease players' requests.
