MultiVersus is in the midst of meeting a rather tragic end. Though its early access debut smashed player-count records on PC, MultiVersus went offline in June 2023, and upon its return just a year later, it failed to regain much of that original audience. For the last 9 months or so, MultiVersus has struggled to keep itself afloat, with even the most loyal fans cutting ties due to monetization and gameplay issues.

On January 31 of this year, Warner Bros. Confirmed that MultiVersus' fifth season would be its last, and the game would be delisted and taken offline at the end of May. Then just a few weeks ago, WB announced it was shutting down developer Player First Games. The closure of a studio is always sad to see, and MultiVersus' shutdown is especially tragic given that Season 5 made some long-awaited changes to gameplay. MultiVersus' imminent end also means that there are a wealth of leaked characters that fans will never see join the roster.

The list of characters below is taken from a variety of leaks that date between August 2022 and December 2024. MultiVersus' leaked list of characters was constantly in flux, and as such, many of the characters listed below were only mentioned by leakers once or twice.

MultiVersus' Fate Does Not Have to Be Sealed

Warner Bros.' Crossover platform fighter might be dead in the water come this summer, but that doesn't mean the game deserves to be lost forever.

Every Leaked DC Fighter Who Never Made it to MultiVersus

DC had a large stake in MultiVersus' roster, with a total of nine DC characters present by the game's fifth and final season. Along with the big three (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman), MultiVersus was home to Harley Quinn, The Joker, Raven, Nubia, Black Adam, and most recently, Aquaman. According to various leaks over the last few years, another three DC characters were set to join MultiVersus:

  • Robin
  • Poison Ivy
  • Static Shock

Every Leaked Movie Fighter Who Never Made it to MultiVersus

Despite owning some absolutely huge blockbuster franchises, Warner Bros.' Fighting game had a surprising lack of movie-related fighters. A particularly surprising omission was any character from Harry Potter, given that it's one of Warner Bros.' Biggest IPs. But according to some of MultiVersus' oldest and longest-standing rumors, both Harry and Ron were set to appear on the roster, right alongside a slew of other movie-inspired heroes and villains:

  • Gandalf
  • Legolas
  • Harry Potter
  • Ron Weasley
  • Mad Max
  • Godzilla
  • King Kong
  • Neo (The Matrix)
  • Emmet (The LEGO Movie)
  • The Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz)
  • Scorpion (Mortal Kombat)
  • Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat)

It's unclear which versions of Mortal Kombat's Scorpion and Sub-Zero could have appeared in MultiVersus, though a tie-in with the live-action movie could have been a possibility.

Every Leaked TV Fighter Who Never Made it to MultiVersus

Warner Bros. Also owns a wealth of popular TV franchises, ranging from HBO dramas to Cartoon Network classics. While a handful of Looney Tunes and Cartoon Network characters made it to MultiVersus' roster in the end, there were plenty of other iconic Saturday morning mascots that were once rumored to be joining them:

  • Cromulon (Rick and Morty)
  • Mr. Meeseeks (Rick and Morty)
  • Fred Flintstone
  • Johnny Bravo
  • Naruto
  • Daenerys Targaryen
  • The Hound (Game of Thrones)
  • Daffy Duck
  • Ben 10
  • Scooby-Doo
  • The Animaniacs
  • Ruby Rose (RWBY)
  • Ted Lasso

While many of these leaked characters were unlikely to actually appear in MultiVersus due to rights issues, gameplay quirks, or any assortment of other potential roadblocks, it's still sad to know that there's now no chance of them ever appearing in the game.
