In the video, a much younger Jimmy Donaldson shares his thoughts on where YouTube could be headed, and many of his predictions, including one about his own rise, turned out to be surprisingly on point.
MrBeast is currently the most subscribed individual on YouTube, with over 413 million subscribers, far ahead of any other creator on the platform. But his path to the top didn’t happen overnight. He began his YouTube journey back in 2012, uploading gaming videos and experimenting with various types of content. His breakthrough came in 2017 when a video of him counting to 100,000 went viral. Since then, his channel has grown rapidly, with many of MrBeast's videos featuring massive production budgets and headline-grabbing stunts.

One of MrBeast’s lesser-known videos, titled “YouTube In 10 Years?????” And uploaded back in 2015, has now resurfaced. In the nearly decade-old clip, a young Jimmy Donaldson rattles off a series of predictions about the future of the platform, many of which have turned out to be surprisingly accurate. Among them, he speculated that PewDiePie would hit 117 million YouTube subscribers (he currently has around 110 million), joked about YouTube possibly developing anti-ad blocker technology, which is now actively being rolled out, and imagined a future where traditional TV shows and networks would have a home on YouTube.
MrBeast’s 2015 Video Predicted His Fame
YouTube star MrBeast also pictured a time when kids would be watching FaZe Clan. But the most striking moment comes when he says, “I’m going to be famous,” and jokes that viewers would remember him as the guy with “less than 3,000 subscribers” whose content “sucked back then.” Nearly a decade later, that prediction has come true in the biggest way possible. Interestingly, on July 5, MrBeast revealed that he once recorded a video with just 8,000 subscribers, in which he tried to predict his subscriber count exactly 10 years into the future. That video, he said, is scheduled to go live in three months.
In addition, MrBeast recently announced what he describes as his largest content creator collaboration yet. Scheduled for August 1, the project invites participation from a wide range of online creators, including YouTubers, Twitch streamers, TikTok personalities, and others. While specific details have not been revealed, the scale of involvement suggests it will be a significant moment in the online creator space.
