Companions can be hired by heading to the tavern of any major city. When selecting to go to the tavern district, the potential companions you can recruit will appear in the top right menu of the screen. In your inventory screen, you can use the arrows by your character's name to open up the inventory of a companion and equip them with any gear you choose.
