Aside from the player's base carry capacity, there are three other major factors that can increase the party's inventory size:

  • Troops - 20
  • Spare Mounts - 20
  • Pack Animals - 100

Both troops and spare mounts will give players an additional 20 inventory slots, with pack animals offering 100 slots. Players will also be able to carry more as they recruit more troops as their party size increases. While it may be tempting to buy every pack animal possible to maximize your inventory, it's important to know how that affects your party's movement speed. There are two types of horses, pack animals and riding horses, with the distinction being the logo under the animal's image. Riding horses have a clear image of a horse next to a plus sign on the left, while pack animals have an odd-looking logo with a plus sign on the right.

Riding horses are needed to upgrade a troop to a mounted unit, but extra can be purchased and kept in your party. Both mounted troops and spare mounts help increase the party's movement speed. Pack animals help carry a lot of weight, they will slow down the party. What To Do With Loot In Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

Players should always pick up all the loot possible from a battle. Should you go over your carry capacity, your party will receive a speed penalty, which will go away once you know what to do with any loot you picked up. First, you should always go through and make sure none of the loot is better than what you and your companions are using. After that, you can either sell or discard all other loot.

Selling will offer huge sums of money, but you may need to travel between a few cities to find enough merchants to buy it all. While discarding loot initially sounds like a waste, the Giving Hands upgrade in the Steward skill tree makes discarded weapons turn into XP to help promote your troops more easily.
