If there is one thing that the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise is well-known and quite beloved for, it's the amazing characters that creator Gege Akutami has written. Throughout the series, Akutami has introduced many incredible characters, some of whom have essentially become the face of modern-day anime, with the most common example of this being Satoru Gojo.
Most of the heroes and villains in the story are very well written, which is why Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the few series that barely has any outright despised characters. Despite this, there are a notable few whose mere existence in the show is enough to rile up even the most dedicated fans, so let's break down the five most unlikable characters in all of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Every Main Jujutsu Kaisen Character's Age, Height, And Birthday
Jujutsu Kaisen is among the biggest ongoing anime. Here are a few basic details fans should know about the main characters as they join the adventure.
Many Feel That Kasumi Miwa Was A Wasted Character
Not Unlikable, But Quite Useless

First Appearance |
Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 18, "Bottom" |

Story Arc |
Fearsome Womb Arc |
- Miwa serves no purpose.
Hello, useless Miwa here!
To start, unlike the others on this list, Miwa is actually quite endeared by the fandom. However, although people tend to like her overall, most feel as if she is a wasted character whose presence doesn't bring anything substantial to the story. Her sole character trait is that she is incredibly weak, due to which she has been unable to do anything meaningful in her entire tenure in Jujutsu Kaisen, making many fans dislike her, or at the very least, her representation in the story.
Kokichi Muta Betrayed Jujutsu High Quite Readily
Very Little Came Of This
|
First Appearance |
Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 32, "Introspection" |
|---|---|
|
Story Arc |
Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc |
- Kokichi betrayed the trust of Jujutsu High.
I made a mistake because I'm weak. And I couldn't even go through with that mistake because I'm weak.
Born with a crippling Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi Muta, the true identity of Mechamaru, spent all of his time with a broken body placed inside a bathtub, preventing him from living anything close to a normal life. Because of this, he leaked sensitive information to Pseudo-Geto and the Disaster Curses which led to the Shibuya Incident in order to get better, making most fans of the series garner many unfavorable views regarding him.

Naoya Zenin Is A Terrible Person Who Holds Power In The Zenin Clan
The Head of the Zenin

First Appearance |
Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 138, "The Zenin Clan" |
|---|---|
|
Story Arc |
Itadori's Extermination Arc |
- Naoya held abhorrent views.
Any woman who can't walk three steps behind a man should get stabbed in the back and die.
Naoya Zenin is one of the fastest sorcerers in the entire setting and is one of the most prominent members of the Zenin clan. Despite such notable accolades, he tends to be hated among the fandom due to his deeply misogynistic views on the world and his incredibly arrogant demeanor towards just about everyone else. Maki remains one of the fandom's most beloved characters, so every single interaction he has with her just hammers in the hatred fans already have for him even more.
Mahito Has Killed Some Of The Series' Most Beloved Characters
A Sadistic Curse
|
First Appearance |
Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 16, "Affection" |
|---|---|
|
Story Arc |
Fearsome Womb Arc |
- Mahito is a depraved villain.
Humans can't live without making up excuses.
Although Sukuna is famous as a horrible villain, it can't be argued that the most cruel and sadistic of all Jujutsu Kaisen antagonists is Mahito, whose grotesque powers perfectly mirror his disgusting personality. However, despite this, he remains one of the series' most well written and compelling villains, and his entire relationship with Yuji is one of the best parts of the franchise as a whole.
As for why Mahito is so disliked; he is the one credited with killing both Nanami and Junpei, the former of whom is one of the fandom's most beloved characters that Mahito killed in one of the most shocking scenes in the series. As disliked as he may be, his role within the story is essential and can't be replicated by anyone else.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Satoru Gojo's Most OP Moments, Ranked
Gojo is arguably the strongest sorcerer in history, and these overpowered moments prove it.
Haruta Shigemo Literally Doesn't Even Have A Single Fan
The Most Annoying Character
|
First Appearance |
Jujutsu Kaisen, Chapter 52, "Nonstandard" |
|---|---|
|
Story Arc |
Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc |
- The worst character in the series.
I survived again! My luck never runs out!
Although Mahito and Sukuna have killed beloved characters, they still remain essential aspects of the overarching story of Jujutsu Kaisen and are easily some of the best characters who have impacted the setting greatly. However, Haruta is one character who adds absolutely nothing, and pretty much everything about him is incredibly annoying and infuriating. From his personality all the way down to his powers, everything about him just screams 'pathetic'.
It's true that Sukuna and Mahito have forced fans to say goodbye to some of their most beloved characters, but the positives about them have gained them many fans over the years. However, there is a joke within the community of Haruta Shigemo having absolutely no fans, and seeing the kind of character he is, this seems to be entirely believable.
Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
