Summary

  • Spider-Man's suit is iconic and essential to his crime-fighting. It provides freedom of movement, hides his identity, and even has underarm webbing.
  • The Spider-Mobile may have been short-lived, but it had useful features like the Spider-Signal and the ability to shoot webs.
  • Spider-Bots, created by Otto Octavius, are small but powerful tools that can scale surfaces, record videos, and create force fields when working together.

The fewer powers a superhero has in their comics, the more likely they are to rely on various gadgets and tools in order to fight crime. That is especially true if they have no powers at all (Ant-Man) or if they are rich (Iron Man). Spider-Man, however, is one of the exceptions to the rule.

Despite having heightened senses, superior strength, and speed, Spider-Man is aware that sometimes it takes something extra to emerge victorious from the fight. It helps that Peter Parker is a genius in his normal life, and can build many great things. Several of his gadgets have become iconic over the years thanks to their power, utility, and clever uses.

5 Spider-Man's Suit

Every superhero needs a proper suit, and Spider-Man has had a lot of them over the years. Most of his suits followed a similar color scheme, making Spider-Man an instantly recognizable figure both in New York and elsewhere. Peter's first suit was an improvised combo thrown together shortly after he got his powers and decided to make money by participating in wrestling matches.

Since then, he has created a superhero suit that gives him great freedom of movement, hides his identity, allows him to crawl up walls, and sometimes even has an underarm webbing. One of the most powerful suits was the Venom symbiote suit, which gave Spider-Man a boost in strength and speed. Unfortunately, the symbiote also tried to take control over him. Spider-Man rejects it in the end, returning to his usual suit, much to Venom's chagrin.

4 Spider-Mobile

The Spider-Mobile is a debatable case. It didn't last long in the comics, as Spider-Man drove it into a river when fighting Mysterio. After that, it became a laughingstock for the public in a museum. But those facts aside, the Spider-Mobile did have some useful and cool features. It didn't quite fit Spider-man's style, but the execution wasn't bad. It contained the Spider-Signal and could shoot webs (which would come in handy if Spider-Man ran out of the webs in the shooters he wears on his arms).

Later on, after Parker became the CEO of Parker Industries and had more money to experiment with his gadgets, he created a new version of the Spider-Mobile. The much cooler Spider-Mobile 2.0 could drive up and down walls, and had a high-quality computer system and other useful traits. Overall, Spider-Mobile could be considered one of the most underrated tools in Spider-Man comics.

3 Spider-Bots

Ironically, one of the most powerful and useful gadgets appeared on the scene when it wasn't Peter Parker at the helm, but Otto Octavius took control over his body instead. After his initial hesitation, Octavius joined the side of good and decided to be better at the superhero business than Parker. To make it easier, Octavius invented the Spider-Bots, small robots that he could control with his mind, just like he had previously controlled his tentacles.

The Spider-Bots might be small, but they function as a useful reconnaissance tool. They can scale surfaces, record videos and sounds, and the upgraded versions can even use face-scanning technologies which help identify criminals and find or stop them faster. What's more, when multiple Spider-Bots work together, they even create a powerful force field. It would be interesting to see more of them outside the Superior Spider-Man story. The Spider-Bots have a lot to offer.

2 Web Shooters

Spider-Man Gadgets- Web Shooters

It's a classic for a reason. Spider-Man's web shooters have been a staple of his equipment for years now. In some variations, Spider-Man can shoot webs from his wrists and doesn't need to use mechanical web-shooters. But most of the time, he can't do without them, if he wants to swing around the city freely and fight crime.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 holds a total of 5 gadgets for the Spider-Men to use, and here are the best ones to upgrade for superior combat scenarios.

Web shooters have rich potential. They can shoot various types of webs, and Spider-Man has added voice identification and modification which helps him in more than one sticky situation (pun intended). Last but not least, the web shooters also serve as an excellent example that Peter Parker's main power is his intelligence. In the MCU, for example, he manages to build shooters when he's barely fifteen years old.

1 Web Fluid

Of course, without the web fluid, Spider-Man's web shooters would just be modern bracelets. The web fluid has saved Spider-Man from plummeting to his death multiple times. While it might not seem like much at first glance, it's a powerful gadget. Once again, in some versions of his story, Spider-Man shoots the web fluid naturally from his body.

Most of the time, however, he has to create it and regularly stock his web shooters with it to ensure that he doesn't run in the middle of a fight or another dangerous situation. What makes the web fluid even more impressive is how many variations it has, including an ice version and one that electrifies his opponent. Spider-Man has had a lot of time to tweak his web fluid, and it makes it a powerful gadget.
