Throughout the trailer there are a number of moments that show off Scorpion's fatality moves. For example, fans are treated to a depiction of a henchmen's head exploding as Scorpion's whip shatters his face.

The trailer features a lot of familiar faces for fans of the Mortal Kombat series. It begins with Sub-Zero killing Scorpions father, setting up Sub-Zero to be the villain of the movie. The trailer also has appearances from Sonya, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, and Goro, among others. It's unclear which of these characters will have their fatalities featured, but considering the list, it would be would be awesome to see some of the fan made tag-team fatalities included.

This is not the first time that Hollywood has taken on the Mortal Kombat franchise. There were two Mortal Kombat movies made in the mid 1990's, both of were commercial and critical failures. That being said, they've evolved into cult classics, and both Mortal Kombat movies have a very interesting production history.

Right now seems like a great time to revive Mortal Kombat as a film series. Video game movies are going through something of a renaissance right now, lead by the incredibly popular Sonic The Hedgehog movie. Netflix's Castlevania series has also shown that there's a demand for shows that investigate the lore of popular video games. Hopefully the new Mortal Kombat movie will be as successful as these other recent titles, and continue to prove that video games are fantastic source material for other forms of media.

Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's Revenge will released on digital platforms April 14, 2020, and on Blu-ray April 28.
