Fans of the franchise expected Mortal Kombat to release a new collection of its old titles long before the Legacy Kollection was officially announced. Back in August 2024, people began to speculate that a Mortal Kombat Trilogy remaster was in the works after images and reports began to surface. Developer Digital Eclipse then revealed Legacy Kollection during the June 2025 Sony State of Play presentation, and now even more details have emerged.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Will Include Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Special Forces

Atari, which is publishing Legacy Kollection, dropped a new trailer for the game during Gamescom 2025, revealing that Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces will join the lineup. This confirms a recent Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection leak that came about when someone spotted the logos for these two games in a video playing at a Gamescom booth. It's now clear that the video in that leaked footage is the trailer Atari just released, and the full version offers even more insight than the 13-second leaked clip showed.

These two more obscure Mortal Kombat titles are far from the only ones fans will be able to enjoy when Legacy Kollection releases. Atari and Digital Eclipse have already confirmed that Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will include the original trilogy, but according to the new trailer's description, the collection will feature more than 20 classic games from the fighting franchise. Players will also be able to sharpen their skills through the Fatality Trainer, which helps familiarize users with the series' iconic finishing moves, and play against friends online. The game will feature CRT filters and a music library for an extra dose of nostalgia, too.

One notable omission from the trailer was a release date. Previous leaks suggest Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection could come out on September 29, but this latest video only says the game is "coming soon." Physical and digital editions are already available for pre-order on all platforms, but when exactly fans can expect to receive those orders remains a mystery. Whenever it does come out, though, it will offer plenty of content for players to sink their teeth into.
