17 Best Fighters In Mortal Kombat 11, Ranked

With a long and storied game history behind it, Mortal Kombat 11 has amassed a collection of great fighters for players to enjoy.

1

It's going to be an absolute blast seeing all of these legendary fighters duking it out once again for the fans' enjoyment, and considering the violence and gore seem to be ramped up this time around, it's going to allow each character to get even more experimental with their fighting styles. In terms of everyone who has been announced so far, these are the most important and popular characters from the original series who have made it into Mortal Kombat 2.

8 Jade

Jade May Have Been Left Out Of Mortal Kombat 1, But She's Returned For The Movie

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)

Jade has received a slight makeover for her movie iteration, but she still retains the same acrobatic fighting style, which she has become most well-known for. Jade excels at maneuvering her opponents through the use of her large pole, which enables her to vault over her opponents before slicing them into pieces to finish them off for good.

For the movie, it's already been shown that Jade has a pretty chaotic clash with her friend Katana at some point, though whether she will be involved in any other fights, only time will tell. Still, as a classic character who unfortunately was left out of the roster of Mortal Kombat 1, it's nice to see Jade getting some love once again.

7 Jax

Jax Clearly Isn't Afraid To Throw His Metallic Weight Around

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)

Though it's not exactly clear just yet how big of a role Jax is going to play in the movie, it's still great to see him getting the opportunity to throw out a few ground pounds either way. Though he may be a human, Jax comes equipped with two gigantic metal arms that allow him to stand his ground against even the strongest of opponents, making him a pretty fearsome competitor in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Out of all Mortal Kombat characters, the best of them have tested their might to become champions.

Considering Jax also has a pretty close relationship with Sonya, it would be great to see this fleshed out and focused on in the movie to help add some emotion to the overall plot as a contrast to the high-speed action. As a character who has been in the series since the second game back on the arcades, Jax is more than worthy of earning a spot on the Mortal Kombat 2 movie roster.

6 Baraka

Baraka Looks Eerily Realistic, And Also Uses Moves From The Games

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)

Baraka is one of those video game characters who is incredibly difficult to get right in live action, considering he looks like an absolute monster in the games. While many people were understandably skeptical about whether the new movie could pull this off, he looks eerily realistic and believable from what has been shown so far, and despite his freakish appearance, he is still able to communicate with those around him, which will result in some interesting dialogue with the humans.

Not only that, but Baraka is also carrying over some of his classic moves, such as his ever-annoying projectile where he fires the spikes out of his arms. Considering some of Baraka's scenes are set in a Tartakan village, it's also highly likely that we will be able to see even more of his people and their unique fighting style as the movie goes on.

5 Raiden

Raiden Rocks His Classic Costume And Lets The Sparks Fly

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat (1992)

Rather than going with some of the more complex and detailed outfits that Raiden has been seen wearing in the modern games, the movie opted to instead go with his classic look, which is arguably the one that most people are familiar with. His appearance may be somewhat minimalistic, but the God of Thunder still isn't afraid to show off his overwhelming strength by letting the sparks fly, as was shown in the trailer when he first meets Johnny Cage in a parking lot.

Surprisingly, Raiden receives such a small amount of screen time in the trailer, considering he's incredibly important to the lore of the games, but maybe this is simply to hold back some of his best scenes for the movie, as there's no doubt he will be involved in plenty of highly intense scuffles at several points in the film.

4 Shao Kahn

It Wouldn't Be Mortal Kombat Without The Big Bad Himself

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)

Shao Kahn isn't just the most well-known villain from Mortal Kombat; he's one of the most recognizable antagonists in all of gaming. With a glossy mask covering his face and a hammer that can hit like a truck, it's fair to say the emperor of Outworld is ready to cause some carnage once again, and it doesn't seem like he's willing to take any prisoners.

Mortal Kombat 1 Definitive Edition: Every New Skin, Ranked

The Definitive Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 features a handful of flashy new movie skins, but which one looks the best of the bunch?

By

Though only a few glimpses of the mastermind were shown throughout the trailer, it's pretty clear he's going to be playing a fairly big role, and to say he looks terrifying would be putting it mildly. Simply put, they've managed to nail the menacing aura that has become synonymous with Shao Kahn, and it'll be interesting to see how he's incorporated into the story once the film finally releases.

3 Kitana

Kitana Will Be Partaking In Tons Of Intense Fights

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)

Kitana is going to be getting a lot of screen time in Mortal Kombat 2, which is certainly a good thing, considering how popular she is among the fan base. Not only could the deadly Edenian be shown duking it out with Johnny Cage and Jade, but she was even taking on Shao Kahn, meaning she's definitely going to be involved in more than a few fights over the movie's run-time.

Lifelong Mortal Kombat fans might recognize some of Kitana's fan attacks, which are reminiscent of her combo strings in some of the recent games. She's even been shown to use a few other weapons in her arsenal to get the job done, so one can only imagine how crazy her fights are going to get, and of course, how gory they're going to end up being, too.

2 Johnny Cage

The Smug And Selfish Cage Is Taking Center Stage For The Latest Rodeo

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat (1992)

It was made crystal clear from the reveal trailer that Johnny Cage is going to be stepping into the leading role for Mortal Kombat 2, and to be honest, it's a pretty smart idea. Cage may be known for being incredibly cocky and very full of himself, but he's also arguably the most relatable character in the franchise, considering he's not a demonic ninja or vicious mercenary.

It very much feels like the movie will be following a "hero's journey" template, which sees Cage go from a clumsy and naive protagonist to an efficient fighter who eventually saves the day, though of course, this is all simply speculation for the time being. Though Cage claims that he doesn't have any sort of magic, it would still be nice to see him incorporate some of his iconic Green Glow attacks as a love letter to long-time fans of the series.

1 Scorpion

Scorpion Rises From Hell To Face Anyone He Deems Worthy Of His Time

  • First Appeared: Mortal Kombat (1992)

It would be hard to have a Mortal Kombat movie and not include by far the most recognizable character of the series, Scorpion. While he's reserved for the very end of the trailer, Scorpion is looking pretty badass from the small glimpses that have been shown. With a shimmering set of golden armor and two chains at his disposal, Scorpion's going to be slicing apart more than his fair share of opponents throughout the film, including none other than Noob Saibot, who shows up in the last few moments, only to be cut down to size.

Many fans enjoyed the mysterious hooded look that Scorpion was given in the first live Mortal Kombat movie, so it's a good thing they've decided to go with this design once again. The vengeful ninja is looking to cut down anyone who stands in his way with a dangerous set of fiery tools that he's more than happy to show off to those who are brave enough to face him.
